By played you mean skipped, I believe. We chose skipping rather than playing, as you could more easily screw things up by playing and trying to do the things for the team.

yup, just trying to make it sound less harsh, more as though it's helping a team by playing their save for them. Esc out of all trade screens then just clicking on end turn.

Lost Boys, you may want to be in contact with a gent known as Modo. If this is to be a team of the dead and have only one player, then the warrior of the East just maybe who you need to salvage the situation... Although you may then have a human as your leader, not a vampire.

Sorry, no go. Playing the save quickly is fun. Being forced to do so is not. 12 hours is plain old crazy. Look, even the admin (!) did not make it to do his duty on time.

It's not all that bad, there are 6 teams, that all have a 12 hour limit. 1 time the save went round in 7 hours, all other turns took longer.
It helps to have a back-up player that can take over (at night) when the first player is not able to play.

I think ridiculous is a tad harsh, we are talking of teams... not single players afterall

and we did want this game finished before civ IV has its first scenario pack released

This has already been discussed, decided and voted on and was an integral part of the original concept for the game.

This is not gestapo like, plently of slack has been given and is given, for example I can see the turn doesn't have to be played for the current team as Krill is online and has already stated that he'll play the turn later today or say if a team was being attacked, they'd need to discuss stuff etc....

It's not as if having your turn played for you is all that bad anyway, you don't loose any short term production or trade and your cities still grow. It's not as if anyone playing your turn is going to screw up all your stuff, by selling all your granaries or pop rushing all your cities to build collosieums or something like that.

Unless it's BoH of course, first time they go over 12 hours I'm going to pop rush all their cities to build some lameass cultural improvements

I'm willing to consider extending the turns to 24 hours, bowing to reality that two teams (in a row, i belive) often do not meet the 12 hour deadline due to a single turnplayer. (Although a single turnplayer with no backup options isn't the best way to do things ...) Also, the current war will probably delay some turns.
