Understandable... but the media has built up the event since more people in the US watch the Super Bowl than any other program on TV during the year. And for some years, when the game truely sucks, the advertising is the only interesting thing later in the game

Fortunately, there have been some good games lately... but there was a period when the average game was a blow out early, and not very interesting to watch

Ah, you first had a rugby team (and a voice over saying no pads, etc) and then for some reason Gladys Knight was brought in and she took the pitch and ran it into the end. Cut to MBNA saying we have a credit card picture for everyone.

You can't really have funny advertising in soccer anyway. Maybe at the half, but aside from that, there are no natural stops and starts to have them.

Thank god. That's the worst thing about US football. I think I'd enjoy it if they just had breaks after each quarter or whatever.

When they have live games here (even on Sky) more than half the times the US footage cuts for ad breaks they cut to the studio for a bit more analysis instead. It's unbelievable how many ads you get.

Really? That's odd. Because the US coverage didn't even think of having cut-away ads. The advertising they had was like "This portion of the game brought to you by Nike".

How are you supposed to make a leisurely walk to the fridge for more provisions if the next break isn't until 30 minutes later?

Then again, I do watch soccer games on Fox Sports World (now Fox Soccer Channel)... I just end up missing part of the game for snacks... the WORST is when I want a soda and I miss a goal .

If I'm on a commercial channel I just switch over to the BBC when they come on.

And I'm sure that people like you spend a lot of time making sure that even if you ignore the commercials they are still having an impact.

Also - no wonder the US has an obesity problem if people need to get up for snacks and sodas that often during a game!!! Maybe it's the advertising... must get a bud... must get a coke... must get different washing powder... huh?
