It was like they went, "How can we make Family Guy, without it being Family Guy. Let's make the character's into their opposites, but instead of a talking dog, we'll have an alien with the voice of Paul Lynde, and a gold fish who lusts after the mother instead of a baby trying to kill the mother."

Exactly. Thing is, there was some grounding in reality with Family Guy. I mean cmon, a talking fish who had his mind swapped when he was about to win the gold for the East German olympic team. What the hell.

Suffering from ads?

I think there were about 4 good jokes about of about 1000 attempts. Part of the problem is that almost every line was supposed to be a joke.

I felt is was a decent show. I laughed at about half of the scenes that were supposed to be funny. Still wasn't as good as I hoped it would be.

nice commentary about the state of america and terrorism after 9/11 though.

No, that not quite true. Timing is an important part of Humor. The best jokes are set up from normal situations. Like the beginning of a Sienfeld episode, setting the stage for later jokes. By the end of the show, yes almost every line is a joke, but a lot of setup has gone into it. This show had 0 setup so most of the jokes had no chance.

Some of the best social commentary is made better by cartoons. Look at the Simpsons. It's much easier to point out the absurdity of a policiy, politician, etc., with a cartoon. It's just that its very easy to do it wrong.

For shows like this, it's always best to wait until the 4th or 5th episode to see what the final product will be like.

After watching it, I give it 2.5 seasons before it dies.

I also think that the Family Guy revival will be disappointing. give that about 2 or 3 seasons before that's canned.

3/10

Chegitz has exactly the same thought I did. They put Peter Griffin on a diet and gave him a new job and family.

Things are funny because they're fresh. For example, Peter Griffin relating something to Momento is funny. This guy doing it isn't, because Peter Griffin already does it.

I really doubt I'll watch it again. It was a chore to get through it.

I like the alien. He's better than Alf.

The fish is just too stupid for me I guess.

Get a bigger avatar today!

-like the critics say in 'Amadeus' "Too Many Notes"...they were trying WAAAY too hard.

-It was like watching some nerdy Grade Niner give the 100th retelling of his favourite Monty Python bit while constantly interrupting himself with giggles and and expectant pauses for laughter, oblivious of his audience. Just a lot of 'stuff' packed together; haha laugh.

-Too Many Poor Characters:
-Female non-entities
-Son is basically a non-entity..some sort of prep/geek melding?
-Dad is peter on testosterone
-Stewie and the dog have become an alien and a fish!! HAW HAW!! (Chick laughter)

Ways it could've been better:
-Make the main setting a Bureau of Homeland Protection building instead of a family home, with the main action and characters taking place there, give him some funny job like 'threat level colour coder', maybe put the alien in some secret base. Make the wife an extreme non-entity as a joke...no name, just 'honey', etc.
