First turn procedure Increase the size of your Attachments

Because unit orders ar so closely linked to how much map we can see in the first turn, I propose this staggered approach.

A screen shot will be posted in the strategy thread of the start. This way people who may be at work won't have to start up the game in order to give input.

Any time 3 players agree on a particular unit's orders it will be moved and a new screen shot posted.

We can decide what to put in the build que after we have passed the save on.

First off I'd like to suggest sending a warrior to each of the hills for a better view.

I also think we can settle right where we are. We will not gain the extra 2 commerce from the Ivory, but that is an insignificant small sacrifice.

If we place our first city where we are, then I would send two workers to the cattle tile(unimproved - 2food,2 shield,1commerce) to build roads and irrigation. I would send one worker to the bonus grassland west of the river to build a road.

We are industrious remember. On plains and grassland roads take 2 turns, irrigation 3 and mines 4.

Asleepathewheel, we only get two warriors.

I'd bet it is coastline as we are seafarring and it is a random map.

Excellent start!

I think that we should definitely settle right there and send the warriors to the hills.

This looks nice! My initial instinct is to found a city right were we stand, and send the other settlers out with the warriors - the southern one toward more grasslands, and the northern one toward the floodplain.

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

That's the third vote for settle where we are.

We have three workers and two settles left.

In the other thread Potter was the winner. So we will do that at 100%

Does any body care what I use for a password?

We do not need to bother with the build que or a name right now.

I agree on the warrior moves and building a city RIGHT THERE at the start.

My suggestions for the other 2 settlers and worker:

Move the worker north and road the cows.

Have one settler (Red) move along the mountains to build at the red square shown. Warrior escort.

Have 2nd settler (blue) move in a southern direction. No good location yet, but we should keep him near the warrior who is exploring. We can likely find a good coastal site in the south with forest/bonus grassland. Such a site would be an excellent production city, while the floodplains site is a very good growth city (that can also use the cows!)

Begin building warrior.
Max out research.
Begin researching Pottery.
Name city Translyvania

Enter the AD-FREE zone

The settler moves sound fine.

I think 2 workers should start a road and irrigation on that cattle, The other woirker can start a road on that bonus grass.

Irrigation takes 3 turns, but roads take two turns so two workers can combine to mine that bonus grass in just 2 more turns.

The capitol will then have two fully developed tiles and workers can start getting over to the new cities.

I think the password will be Count. I kinda doubt any body wants to cheat, but sometimes you get the other teams screen by accident if you hit the wrong button when saving.

Got spare money?

We have 3 workers?!

Good plan. Move 2 onto the cows, road and irrigate. Move one of them 1, onto the south-west Bonus tile. Once the road is complete on the cows, move that worker thru Transly to join the southern worker and help mine. The northern worker can begin to road us to the red city site thru the northern plains, and then west to the city.

Red city will need a connection to that lux. The north worker can then begin the floodplains irrigation and roading.

Because of the river we will need two turns to get from the Cow to the south-west bonus grassland.

How about two workers on that cow and they can then move toward the flood plain city.

One worker will do the road mine thing on the south west bonus grassland, he will still be done before we grow any way.

Looking over this I see that we have the three vote to send to settlers along with the warriors.

Togas and myself agree that 2 workers should get over to the cow and 1 should head to the SW bonus grassland.

I'll leave this open to comment for another hour. while you are here please vote in the team organization thread.

These are my thoughts:
Woriors and 2 sttlers as on the screenie along the two lines.
Workers, each one to 3 tiles and start roads there. These three will be first to work on anyway, I think.

Though the rivers stop travel anyway, so it is a problem till we have bridges

DO NOT forget to set research. My proposal is:

Writing
Literature

Then go for Great Library - this Wonder rocks. We can turn off research till getting Education and still get a lot of advances

-------
I would forgot, research rate is crap anyway usually first turns - so get 10 % or 20% for science (1 gold only) the rest for accumulation - this way we get more gold. Research would be slow no matter 1 or 2 or 3 gold/turn.

What is the first advance cost anyway? 100?
What is the maximal turns for research? 40 or 50?

We are putting 6 gold toward research with just the one city. That will give us pottery in 10 turns, or less, if we go 100%. We will get even more gold in two turns or whenever we settle the next cities.

Great Library is very cool, although human players will be able to counteract some of its power by trading to us first or even reducing their own research.

As discussed in the research thread, although not definitivly decided on, going for those techs will take time, and unless we go for pottery now we will hamper our growth while we study writing and beyond. It is not certain that we will be able to trade for pottery.

As for splitting the workers on the east side of the river let me say this. Both workers on the cow can make a road in 1 turn. This will be put to use right away. If we put 1 worker on the cow and 1 on the bonus grass they will both finish roads in 2 turns. However our population will still take 10 turns to grow, so the extra road does nothing for us until then.

Great Library gives us any advance known to 2 others. They all would have to literaly kill their research and/or trade to make it harder for us. I am not sure if that would be wise for other civs.

I just checked costs, so it appears that :
Pottery - around 50 gold (cost)
Writing - more than 200

So maybe let us make
Pottery
Writing
Literature

Meanwhile maybe capital city start Pyramids right away.
Making settlers would be taken care of by the remaining two cities when we establish them?

Ah, getting granary first - maybe start barracks first then switch to granary. After granary is ready - then start Pyramids - Pyramids switch to Great Library. We will "load" then all those initial advances like ceremonial worior code etc.
