Worker Orders Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

The two workers on the cattle can complete a road in 1 turn adding to our research budget, irrigation would be a good next job, it would provide 1 more food and growth in 7 rather than 10 turns.

The other worker need only build a road for now.

Some general idea about workers. Entering a tile takes away a whole turn, however, when using a road, is this turn spared? In this case, it would be better to enter a tile by one worker first, who does a road, then other workers follow along the road not loosing the turn. This way it would be much more efficient. Only one wrker-turn would be lost for entering a tile without a road. Any oppinions?

That is exactly correct. I have not looked too far ahead, but it should work for the two worker gang.

After the road one worker goes to the next tile and begins again, the other stays behind to irrigate. Both jobs will finish at the same time.

I will investigate the issue further. We may work out some procedures for the most efficient worker use. In general, we would have to plan a bit ahead. There would be workers selected for roads construction which would preceed the teams making further improvements.

I'll try to work that stuff out.

Yup, the way I was afraid:
turn 1
1 worker enters a tile - 1workturn
turn 2
start road - 2 workturns
turn 3
continue road - 3 workturns
turn 4
road completed, 2 more workers enter the tile
3 workers start mine - 6 workturns
turn 5
3 workers continue - 9workturns
turn 6
mine done

Problem:
total workerturns: 9
if subtract the one for entering in order to build road: 8
however building road and mine should be:
road: 2
mine:4
we lost 2 workerturns.

We should avoid such situations.

The worker in the west can build a road toward wherever we will place that city. Using the road he can always return later to mine that bonus grassland.

We have two workers on the cattle already and that is thw only tile we are working so lets improve it right away. Both of them finish the road in 1 turn. Irrigation will take 1.5 turns. The workers can then split up, with one roading toward the floodplain city and the other working the bonus grassland on the east side of the river.

By putting both workers on the cattle we do waste a worker turn, but improving our only worked tile was more valuable than splitting the workers to improve tiles that will not be used for 7 or more turns. Although such waste should be kept to a minimum.

We have compleated the road on the cattle. Again that is the only tile we are working so lets make the most of it. I would like both workers to begin irrigating.
