	Stepping Down Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

As some of you know, I always intended to hand over the turn-playing responsibilities midway through the game. The original turn/date was 2150, but with the holidays and vacations it seemed like a bad time. So as it approaches 2160, I'm officially resigning my post effective immediately. It's been great fun and an honor to lead the team.

I'll still stop in ocassionally, so it's not goodbye or anything.

Formally I should be the one stepping in but although I'm back home from Canada I have RL interfering pretty heavily with my SMAX and ACDG3 time and it doesn't look like things will change over the next weeks...

I don't have any opinion on who should take over. If you guys want to go by the offices we created at the beginning, that's fine. If you want to have a new election/interview process, I wouldn't object. It could also be more informal and collaborative (winging it).

OK,

Let's look at who we have available to act as turnplayer.

Jtsisyoda has served long and well and he deserves some time off. I hope that the stepping down is not permanent and that sometime in the future he can once again serve as turnplayer.

AndiD has indicated that he currently has RL problems as serving as turnplayer.

If someone has the ability and willingness to serve as full time turnplayer please speak up.


Although I do not wish to serve as full time turnplayer, I am willing to step in on a part-time basis. I served as turnplayer for a couple of turns with the Hive in ACDG II (during one of the turns I was perhaps a little too aggressive towards CyCon ).

I think Rubin has served as a Turnplayer.

Micha, have you? Are you able?

How about #endgame, and Arginne?

Anyone else?

We are reaching a critical time in the game when we either we or lose. Because we are entering into a potentially high military tempo, my preference would be for Rubin to take the turn for a few turns.

Let's decide now before the turn comes back to us and we have to rush a decision.

I didn't even see the nomination. I'm going back into Uni next week. This could make things difficult. If no-one else is here when the turn comes around, I'll do it (my first DG, my first real MP ohhh dear...). :Spam: my PM box if it comes to that.

Let's take a look at the turn when it comes down.

If the post in the Turn Thread is correct about solar flares then that means no diplomacy for the next few turns.

If true, then I'll have nothing to do so I won't mind playing the turn. I played as turnplayer for the Hive for a couple of turns in ACDGII (and we still ended up winning) so I should be able to do it. (RL interrupted my ability to regularly access the internet after the first couple turns so Rubin (I think) took over after me).

I would still like #endgame to do a shadow turn and post it in our Internal Morgan forum, AFTER I played and POSTED the real turn (I don't want us to run afoul of the rules by doing anything illegal like 'exploring') so he can practice and we can constructivly critique both my and his shadow turn.

I would still like #endgame's (he is CTO, yes?) and everyone else review and give suggestions on teraforming, production, and movement of units before I play the turn.

A rotating turnplayer basis between, AndiD, #endgame, jtsisyoda (if RL permits), and myself would be ideal. I will be busy in RL about 3 weeks from now, so although I can play the turn for the next two turns, I think RL will keep me from playing it in mid-March.

Okay Mead, but I'll have to move all the units you moved exactly the same way as you did. Otherwise, all I can do is post what I would have done, or else there is the possibility of seeing things that we shouldn't have.

I'll go look at how things are with our formers now.

Sounds good.

My main concern re: terforming is that I am unfamiliar with the overall plan. We have more forest square than crawlers right now.

I think our current plan is mines, 2 nut squares for the new bases, roads, and sensors.

Could you also giv Lal, Zak, and Yang a call once the turn comes up and let me know if they have anything to say.

The basic plan was move the formers around Mead Metal east, making rocky squares mine+road, ending up at Mount Drogue. We want to crawl them to one or 2 support bases in the middle of the continent (since that's harder to take) or maybe at one port, one mainland base.
