I will use this thread to post scouting and/or military orders, future plans, and to discuss military matters. Also to assign names and keep the team aprised of our military strength.

As we have two warriors right now, both should serve in dual roles as scouts and settler escorts. Once the cities are established, they will build their own guards, and the scouts will move out.

Name the northern warrior Gangrel
Name the southern warrior Ahrimane

Gangrel will be scouting in a north-west direction.

Ahrimane will be scouting southward.

Should we build a curragh, I'd like to send it north-east, in a counter-clockwise direction around the landmass.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

If we are going to name every unit (a cool idea) we will need a lot more names.

Barbarians are set as restless (level 3 out of 5) however barbarians do not appear for the first 10 turns so I hope we can keep the warriors exploring and let the settlers do their own thing.

It was discussed in another thread that our northern city should be placed on the plains by the river, just NW of their current position. I think that is an excellent spot.

The southern settler I would like to continue one more tile and settle on that coastal hill.

I think the warriors should leave the settlers behind and continue to follow the hills.

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Can someone give me a rundown of the other civs? What do we know about the Green Team that is north of us?

As we're playing Carthage, we are not a strong early rush civ. Our UU is costly and geared towards castle style play. If we stick to our planned tech path (Pottery, Writing, Philo) we will not have any additional military units until long after our early rush possibilities have faded away.

We can rush with warriors, but it is a very risky and short lived attack that may raze one city and scare the heck out of our neighbor, but will not likely get much further.

We might pop warrior code from a goody hut (we have 2 huts) and then attack with archers. We would use our 3rd city as our primary production city for this attack, adding in other cities and our capital in turn. Our northern most city is a growth city that should be geared towards settlers and workers, not mil units.

However, I need a brief on who the green team is ... what civ and what players. We also have to be concerned about them expanding into our territory, and expansion to the west and north must become our priority for the next 30 turns or so.

Euphorica = China
Horde = Monguls
Babylon = Babylon
Desolation Row = Persia
Morporkians = Egypt ??

Thus our neighbor is Persia. Who's deadly Immortals can be held in check with our Mercs and our denial of iron. They will mass build warriors to upgrade them to Immortals and could Immortal rush us. Expect them to hoard gold to do this. They will simply swap techs around and do little research of their own in order to mass upgrade. Watch for this sort of behavior as a sign that they plan to mass upgrade and attack.

Immortal rushes are not hard to hold off, so long as we are prepared. Mercs + Cats are excellent in doing so. We are one of the few civs who is naturally prepared to handle such things. Persia will know this.
