	Chat Room Tired of ads?

Is anyone else interested in a #babylon on Apolyton IRC?

I've found Team Chat to be a double-edged sword: If summaries or logs aren't posted whenever chat happens to actually produce something good about the game, the forum tends to devolve because those who don't visit chat are out of the loop of what others are thinking. But so long as we make sure to get everything relevant in chat to the forum, that shouldn't be a problem.

I am easy. I just find chats tend to suck up so much time. OTOH, they are good when we have a lot of info to discuss and decisions to make.

I've registered #babylon. If you guys will register your nicks and post them here I can add you to the access list. (log on to poly IRC as the nick you want and type "/msg NickServ password email" and then confirm your registration using the e-mail it'll send you.)

Since I know you're not all going to register or log on often enough to keep the registration from timing out, I haven't restricted the channel to users on the access list; anyone can get in. (However, users on the access list, and users on the access list only, will be "opped", indicated by the @ sign.)

I've instead used the other method of locking a permanent password on the channel; the password is "frosted" (just type "/join #babylon frosted" rather than "/join #babylon") Unfortunately, this other method of securing the channel is far from an airtight thing. Anyone can get in while it's empty without using the password, and if they do so, they'll see the password once they're in. The password will only act to keep out casual chatroom browsers while members are in there; it would not stop a determined spy. We'll just have to trust the other teams on that.
