It IS possible Put an end to popups!

Once I've complained here that When You clic smileys,
it always places them at the end of the text, and not in the place You want it.
My case was dismissed by saying that changing that is not possible, and that I should learn the smiley codes.
But recently, I've discovered a forum where You actually could place smileys in the middle of a text. It was on a Polish Muslim forum.
So it IS possible, and I assume Apolyton will upgrade.

It is not possible WITH POLY'S CURRENT FORUM SOFTWARE. To get smilies in the place you want them, the entire forum would need to be migrated over to another forum software. Every single change the admins have done to the site would be lost. Civgroups, PolyPlus, userstats... even getting a comprehensive list of everything we would lose in such a migration would be an arduous task.

Compare that to the effort of memorising the smilies you use often.

I don't think so. This is done in JavaScript, so you'd just have to edit the smilie() function. I think the main concern is browser support.

There are forums specifically for Polish Muslims?

My understanding is the problem is that the textbox doesn't return a cursor position value. (I'm only moderately familiar with JS, but this is the argument used by one of the mods, don't recall whom, when discussing it with me.) If the textbox won't return a cursor position value, then you can't do anything except at the end of the text string (unless you want to guess where the cursor is )

Bah, a couple of. There's even shii one I think!

There are Muslims in Poland since XIV century - refugees from Golden Horde settled in that-time Lithuanian lands. Poland/Lithuania used them for military purpuses (for which it was heavily criticised in Middle Ages, of course), and up till ww2 there's been special Tatar regiment in the army. Today, Tatars are about polonised and not enough Muslim for Muslim neofites.
Next, during communist times Poland cooperated with many socialist muslim states and so, there are some Muslim imigrants - and new ones have comen under capitalism. They are not very numerable, but more than Tatars.
And finally there are some Muslim neofites.

@Ming: I'm sure we'd spam much less if you told us the owners are going to consider it and reject it after giving it an unfair hearing.

First, I can't respond for the owners. On some issues, I know what their position is... on new ones, I'll just let them speak for themselves.

Second, what does them answering or not have to do with people making very unrelated posts.
And frankly, even when they do respond in a thread, it doesn't seem to have much effect either way on the spamming
