I am asking this here for good reason. As rules state:
- It is not allowed to locate bases in unexplored tiles.
How exactly one should understand this point. The way I do, is:
- when clicking on an unexplored tile, the map do not recenter if the tile contains a base. This constitutes "location of bases in unexplored tiles"
How about using infiltration screens? An infiltrated faction's base screen can be accessed, map within its radius can be seen, as well as the map of supported unit positions. Using it one can recreate the map enclosed within bases' radiuses of an infiltrated faction. Is this allowed?

Slowly going forward - I have just located "The Hive"
It wasn't that difficult after all - hive has bases in large extent overlapping - thus easy task locating common tiles in base radiuses.

Ok, I have to take care of other stuff, so meanwhile a compressed jpg of the map - it is rather bad quality, but compression ratio is like 102 times. Just for general review, if someone is interested before I make the final version for the whole Hive. Coastline is the most interesting part. The center of the hive territory is just dense base grid - nothing interesting.
I will remove this file later.

The way I see it is that when having the access to the infiltrated base screens, one can view those maps, which are part of that base datalinks. We can assume, that each base has its maps. Infiltration reveals them. Actually locating a base might be very precise. The only problem is that bases close to polar caps have their "y" coordinate uncertain. On small maps it is most often the case. Having "x" though is enough when bases have dense grid. Spartan loose base placement might though make big trouble there.
In short, I think this "map recreation" should be always allowed. I hope it will be in the next demo games too.

And just right away a thought here - we are as far from Spartans as we could be. If they are going to be manace in the coming years it is good for us. ... hopefully
