Tonight was Washington College's Birthday Ball, in honor of George Washington's birthday. Managed to go, started to have a good time. Didn't know how to dance, of course, but I know an absolutely wonderful girl.
I didn't even bother asking her to be my date because I was sure she'd have one. She's an exchange student from South Africa, but she's cute as a button and extremely nice so I figured she had to have had some offers. Oddly enough, no, or if she did she turned them down, because she came with a group of friends.
At first it all went wonderful. I'm not going to pretend she's the love of my life or anything. I've come to realize perfectly well that I fall for girls too hard, too fast. But she was sweet and friendly, she laughed when I joked, and for once in my life I felt like a normal guy chatting up a pretty girl at a dance instead of awkward aspie guy on the outside. We danced for about five minutes when I first saw her. I felt like a total ass, I knew I was awkward, but it was still wonderful.
Don't worry, this post will have a point eventually. I'm getting there. Anyway, I lost track of her after that, and spent like an hour sifting the crowds for her. I finally found her, she was dancing with her friends, I sort of awkwardly hung around for a while. The end of the dance approached. I asked her, meeting her outside the dance hall, if the next slow song could be ours for one last dance, because I know I can actually slow-dance without feeling ridiculous.
One of her friends butted in, said, "the next dance with [girl] is mine. The one after that's taken too." She got up, stood between us. I assumed she was just kidding, so I put up my dukes to play along, said, "I'll fight you for her!"
Thing is, she wasn't joking exactly. She didn't actually try to hit me, but she stood between us no matter how I tried to dodge, didn't smile no matter what I did, and eventually started semiseriously talking trash. Told me to leave before I suffered the shame of getting beat up by a girl.
The title of this post says the rest. I have no idea what that was about, if she just resented my trying to butt in on their circle of friends or what. Before the inevitable crude suggestions come in, I doubt they're lesbians. Don't get me wrong, those girls might have been for all I know, but The Girl, the one I like, referred to them as "friends," and they didn't act at all like...well, y'know. What's the proper term, a harem?
The situation was so weird and unexpected, I eventually just sort of backed down. Still smiling, I said, "well, I guess it's good night then," trying to call out her bluff, see if it was just a joke. "The" Girl, the one from SA, seemed to treat it as one, but her hefty friend just stood there acting tough. So I went off to the coat check feeling ridiculous. I waved goodnight to her as I passed by with my coat a few seconds later, with a smile. She waved back with an unreadable but smiling expression on her face.
The next time I see her, I plan to ask, in the most delicate terms I can manage, if they are just "friends" as stated, or if that was a joke or what. I'm not angry so much as in a state of shock. I have no idea what just happened, whose fault it was if anyone's, anything. Does anybody have any guess what the deuce just happened there?

A girl that was my girlfriend when I was 14 (she was 13) move to Modesto and live next door to this other girl. Over time this other girl turn into a liz. I met the other girl once when I was 16. Now fast forward to 1964 when I was 20, and in the Navy. Joyce had move to Napa, and her mother told me Joyce was here and to give her a call. I did and Joyce and I started to see each other again, however the girl next door also move to Napa, and one night she attack me as I was walking Joyce home. Well I put my hands up open and told her to back off. She did not back off, and was still hitting me, so I gave her one to the chin, and down she when. So I left and that became the last time Joyce and I when out. I only saw her once or twice more because she worked at the same place that my current wife worked at. The other call the cops, but they did not brother me. And later after I was married to my wife, I was talking to the Capt of the Police and he told me about her and why they did not brother to arrest me. He the Capt was best friends with my wife family. Later he ask me to help him coach a baseball team. He died a few week ago and we were friend for 40 years.
HeII if you see the dlke alone try to make her mad and if she swing, lay her a$$ out. I would.

WOuu!!! A NICE kokblock!
She was not a lesbian for 100% sure but let's say 80% sure. The defensive line that is. This is nothing weird.. girls are like that, it's always the fat ones that are tigers attacking you and looking like they have PMS. The reason is, they have made a pact before going in 'and we leave together!11' because usually the trucker girl knows she would leave alone otherwise, and disguises it as security and girl and friend thing. It's nothing but a bluff.
Me and my friends have recognized this strategy years ago. So what you need is a way around the defensive line. We call them grenades or mines. One of the crew has to be the mine clearer or kamikaze. He must go, and take the fattie boombastic FIRST. This is crucial. That way, you can approach the one you were supposed to without being blocked aggressively. Hell yeah they can be aggressive too. Grenades are usually hating men too, because they can't get men, except abusers who want to have sex with anyone, even dragons, and then they leave riught after the sex becuase they know how ugly the girl is.
THIS is why they are aggressive, because they have issues and they are just protecting themselves for insults and all that crap people give them. They're not bad people, they are just.. tough outside and hurt inside. This is why you need to remove that one from the equasion THE FIRST CHANCE YOU GET. Just like the girls making a pact, you need to make a pact too who is the mine clearer/kamikaze, but it can't be the same person as last time, because it's a duty. And the point is not to ditch the trucker girl, but to keep her comfortable, after all you need to be a gentleman and not an *******. So it's taking one for the team, if it means kissing, he must do that. he must make the night of her life to the trucker, so she doesn't get any ideas. And that's why she needs to be the first one to be clinched.
This is completely normal. And the next time trucker says to you you'll get embarrased by getting beat up by a girl, say that you have fought truckers before in the parking lot and it wasn't a big deal so come on you stupid **** let's dance and I'll show you your place you filthy pig and then sucker punch her to the stomach and say to everyone 'I think she has stomach cramps..PMS or something' and walk out fast.

Maybe the overly protective girl has had bad luck with boys, has nothing in the romance department going on, and is projecting her negative feelings about guys towards the girl you're interested in. Your girl may not have the moxie to assert herself and pull away from the other girl's influence.
