Dear Nieghbours,
Just a quick response; The reason that we did not suggest that is that we don't have the wheel yet. We have a good gpt income, but it will take a while to research. We would like the deal to go ahead in the two stages so that we can combat the barbarians that are north of our cities. You also benfit, because you can no longer pop CB from a hut, so you would get smething better (ie alphabet, IW or even a settler). The gold that we would give you is also a promise that we would not renege on a deal, as we would like to get our old back...
We can't give concrete estimate on how long it would take to research the wheel, but it should take less than 10 turns.

Addendum: Please do not end the movement of your scout next to our borders, for the same reasons that you so adequately gave us an an earlier communique
Also, please note that there are barbs around, so please tread carefully...
We have sent CB=12 gold to you unaccepted.

A converasation I had with PLATO (BOH Ambassador) some minutes ago:
quote: [05.4.2005 14:46:09] PLATO:
Greetings Great Leader of the Abkh-Morpork!
[05.4.2005 14:46:45] Todor:
hello, respected Blood Oath Horde Ambassador
[05.4.2005 14:50:06] PLATO:
Do you have time to discuss a few details?
[05.4.2005 14:54:13] Todor:
I think our relations were cld so far but still based on repect to each other
[05.4.2005 14:54:15] PLATO:
Yes, to business. We would like to have a strong relationship with your people
[05.4.2005 14:54:39] Todor:
there was little tension when we first met (I think you wasn't member of the team at thet time)
[05.4.2005 14:55:21] Todor:
the first thing for a stron relationship is the trust
[05.4.2005 14:55:33] PLATO:
Yes, there was some tension. Beginnings are sometimes difficult. But out of this tension, strength of friendship could grow.
[05.4.2005 14:56:07] PLATO:
I agree. I believe that there are some things we can do to build that trust
[05.4.2005 14:56:12] Todor:
I'd like to have trust to each other
i.e. when we say 20 turns NAP, this means 20 turns no war, not even try for a war
and not to invade with 60 cavalries on the 21st for example
[05.4.2005 14:56:44] Todor:
I don't mind if you destroy us but you have to do it honorably
[05.4.2005 14:56:46] PLATO:
haha. Wish we could have 60 cav in 20 turns
[05.4.2005 14:57:01] Todor:
it was just an example
[05.4.2005 14:57:07] Todor:
so, on the serious side now
[05.4.2005 14:57:28] Todor:
it's still the beginnning. It seems everyone has two close neighbours
[05.4.2005 14:57:33] PLATO:
we do not wish your destruction. We wish your friendship
[05.4.2005 14:57:47] Todor:
we have pretty bad territory to expand
[05.4.2005 14:58:24] Todor:
I have some ideas for our mutual advantage
[05.4.2005 14:58:31] PLATO:
We have not explored all the area south of you. Are you limited there for your expansion?
[05.4.2005 14:58:56] Todor:
we may do a research plans to help each other advance faster
we should set a border agreement
[05.4.2005 14:58:59] PLATO:
Do tell. The Horde would love to hear your suggestions
[05.4.2005 14:59:28] Todor:
there are jungles between us and this means they will be last settled territories - so we have enough time to handle this matter
[05.4.2005 14:59:41] PLATO:
All matters are open for discussion with the Horde. Do you have some specifics I could take back to my council?
[05.4.2005 14:59:51] Todor:
no, not yet
[05.4.2005 15:00:17] Todor:
we need to discuss this in our team and me or Krill will send you a message
[05.4.2005 15:00:42] Todor:
it seems you are the most advanced team now
[05.4.2005 15:01:20] PLATO:
There are barbarians in the jungle north of you. We would like to rid that area of their evil. As a trust building measure, we would like your acent to this
[05.4.2005 15:01:42] Todor:
you have all techs we have too. It seems you are missing the Math and Polytheism
I didn't make any research about Philo, Lit, etc.
[05.4.2005 15:01:57] PLATO:
Ahh yes, The Horde is fortunate in these matters
[05.4.2005 15:02:00] Todor:
oh, ..
[05.4.2005 15:02:07] Todor:
have you moved your consript south?
[05.4.2005 15:03:10] PLATO:
He is on a mission of exploration. As expansionist, we have a particular appetite for huts. lol. Is he a problem to your people being so near?
[05.4.2005 15:03:35] Todor:
nope
But I was thinking he will be in danger
[05.4.2005 15:03:49] Todor:
I was going to warn you but by connection failed last night
[05.4.2005 15:03:56] PLATO:
Danger?
[05.4.2005 15:05:01] Todor:
We are well defended for now, so no problem
but are moving workers and settlers here and there and we would like to be sure you'll not attack any of them
[05.4.2005 15:06:43] PLATO:
Our warrior is on a peaceful mission. You can be assured of your people's safety from him. If you would like, we can move him north away from your people. Of course we would like to keep exploring, but would be happy to reassure your people of his peaceful nature
[05.4.2005 15:07:14] Todor:
no probelm - continue your explorations
if a metter arises we will inform you
[05.4.2005 15:07:26] Todor:
but Egyptian people are not paranoic
[05.4.2005 15:08:11] PLATO:
haha. we did not feel so. I look forward to a good relationship.
[05.4.2005 15:09:35] PLATO:
Sadly, I must begin my work day. I look very much forward to continuing this discussion.
[05.4.2005 15:09:46] Todor:
why didn't you feel so?
[05.4.2005 15:09:51] Todor:
I did not understand
[05.4.2005 15:10:10] Todor:
have a nice day
we may talk later
[05.4.2005 15:10:31] Todor:
I usually finish my work two hours later
but today is a holyday
[05.4.2005 15:11:00] PLATO:
We know from your previous communication with our Horde that your people deal from strength...the type of neighbors and friends we desire.
[05.4.2005 15:11:45] PLATO:
I will be back in touch very soon. Enjoy your time off!
[05.4.2005 15:11:58] Todor:

[14:23:45] Todor:
hey, plato, how are you?
what happened to your proposals? shall we synchronize tech trades?
[14:25:10] PLATO:
hey ormuzd! Doing great. Early morning here. Just having that first cup of coffee!
[14:26:16] Todor:
didn't want to put pressure, just reminding
anyway I'll be away from civ until tomorrow
[14:27:05] PLATO:
No pressure my friend. Which proposal are you refering to?
[14:28:04] Todor:
I think you had some ideas previous time we have talked
With Krill's PC fixed our team is in full strength and we may take a quick decision about anythingin this game
[14:29:37] PLATO:
Yes, we do have some ideas to try to build the relationship between our two great nations. If you have a specific offer, I am sure that the council will look upon it favorably.
[14:29:58] PLATO:
glad to hear about Krill, BTW
[14:31:38] Todor:
we are trying to learn as much as possible about the world, in particular the lands between us. When we have enough knowledge we will send a border proposal
[14:32:19] PLATO:
We shall look forward to receiving it.
[14:32:33] Todor:
about the techs - we are going to research litarature now
what are researching now? we may trade for our mutual benefit
[14:33:15] Todor:
if you have explored enough you may send a proposal too
[14:34:36] PLATO:
I believe that we may be on Math...not sure. The save has been moving so slow of late. i will find out for sure and let you know next time we are online together. We are interested in some possible tech trades however
[14:35:04] PLATO:
Can I ask you a bit of an unrelated question?
[14:37:19] Todor:
of course, ask
[14:38:47] PLATO:
As you may be aware, my responsibilities also include your close neighbors, the Babylonians. I am having some difficulty in contacting there ambassador. Is there any information on them you could help me out with?
[14:41:18] Todor:
I don't know
Krill is handling usually the correspondence with the other teams
he has contacted them two days ago (just before they stopped playing) and there was no word from them since
[14:43:09] PLATO:
Hmmm...They have two warriors in close proximity to our boarders. I would very much like to find out their intentions. Are your relations good with them?
[14:44:35] Todor:
yes, very good actually
we are trying to achieve some agreements now
[14:45:13] Todor:
why are so scared with warriors near your borders? you have two at our border
and you have reacted very aggrisevely earlier
[14:45:46] PLATO:
That is good. Hopefully, we will be able to become friendly with them as well.
[14:46:57] Todor:
they are peaceful and they have said this at the start (just the opposite of some other teams )
[14:47:56] PLATO:
Well, Our reaction was more defensive really. We are sorry that we appeared agressive. First there was your warrior following our settler and then two Babylonian warriors appear. We hoped it was just exploring, but felt that we needed all to know that we were capable of defending ourselves. Beginnings are somtimes difficult...
[14:48:43] PLATO:
Yes, speaking of that "other" team ( ), do you have any idea what they may be up to?
[14:50:27] Todor:
no, first was we wanted to explore as much as possible before your culture has reached 10
but your ambassador reacted almost paranoically
we have followed your settler long after this
[14:50:52] Todor:
we are expecting some archers from the "other" team to be honest
[14:52:25] PLATO:
Hmmmm...Archers are not good. I would imagine that they would be heading toward your Babylonian neighbors first though. Wouldn't you think?
[14:52:34] Todor:
it's good to be prepared for a storm and where there is none, this will double the pleasure
[14:53:06] PLATO:
Indeed. That was our philosophy as well. lol.
[14:53:10] Todor:
I don't know
the first target is usually the neighbour
[14:53:46] PLATO:
Perhaps we can set up some type of early warning system for our two civs?
[14:54:58] Todor:
yeah, it seems a good idea
[14:56:05] PLATO:
I am sure that we would be willing to commit a couple of warriors or scouts to move in that direction to watch the approaches on the northern side if you would be willing to do the same on the southern side.
[14:57:12] Todor:
I'll save this chat and will put it on the forum just in any case
I'll answer after this
[14:57:58] PLATO:
Very good. I will do the same. Perhaps we can both offer suggestions as to exact placement for optimal coverage.
[14:58:32] PLATO:
I am very pleased that our two great nations can co-operate on this matter.
[14:59:06] Todor:
so do I
The future with a good neighbour seems quite well
[14:59:40] PLATO:
Indeed it does. Thanks ormuzd. Until next time then, my friend

quote: Greetings Krill,
Am I to assume that you are now assuming the Ambassadorial duties for Ankh-Morpork? Perhaps some internal communication with ormuzd could confirm our understanding on a couple of points.
First, we have communicated about the nature of our warriors in the vicinity of your lands. Ormuzd had seemed to indicate that their mission of exploration was acceptable. May I ask why this would have changed?
Second, the final time that ormuzd and I had spoken (which was several days ago I might add) we had discussed setting up an "Early Warning" system against any Desolation Row warriors heading toward our side of the world. He indicated that a response would be forthcoming...yet still no answer. Given the positive nature of the conversation, we have obviously positioned troops to be able to hold up our end of the bargain.
Are we to now understand that this proposal is rejected and that you wish us to move our troops away from positions in international land? Your message was not very well received by the Khan and his faithful were not very pleased by the tone of it. Your government’s recent silence, after being offered co-operation, has raised questions about your intentions and thus prompted us to fortify our warrior upon the iron mountain. For the time being, we believe it prudent to leave him at his post until these matters are clarified.
At this point, I must advise my government that we should require further explanation from your government on this change in the peaceful tone of relations that both our nations had been enjoying.
Until such explanation is obtained, I am afraid that I must also advise against any tech deals. We are hopeful that your explanation will provide insight that may clear this matter up.
I remain,
PLATO

It is best to send any message that is to be sent by either PM or Email to both of us, but Ormuzd can bee reached via yahoo, ICQ and MSN. I normaly write the diplomatic messages, bacause I am the better at English (although it does not seem so at times, even though it is my mother tongue )
quote: First, we have communicated about the nature of our warriors in the vicinity of your lands. Ormuzd had seemed to indicate that their mission of exploration was acceptable. May I ask why this would have changed? |
Nothing has changed. We understand why you want to have you warriors scout around us, and we accept that, so long as they don't enter our territory.

I'm sorry, I was never informed of this, or are you talking about the Early warning system around the Babs? We can help you there. If you move Baatar warrior 3223, you have an overlook of the babs northern most city, and if you move Becks Beer Boys 33336, or 3333322, you will be sitting on a mountain that can see within the Babs borders western most borders, and Heavy axes can move 3333, which puts all northward expansion under watch. Feel free to move to thoose locations.

See above, but for one Addendum: the Iron mountain itself is not exactly neutral ground. We don't have a problem with you forting on other hills or mountains, given that they are not within our borders (we would of course give notification if we were to settle adjacent to one of your outposts).
quote: At this point, I must advise my government that we should require further explanation from your government on this change in the peaceful tone of relations that both our nations had been enjoying. |
Just because you are paranoid does not mean they are are not out to get you. Basically, camping on someones iron/horses is considered either a prelude, or an act of, war. We, just as you, don't want this to happen ever between our two great nations.
quote: Until such explanation is obtained, I am afraid that I must also advise against any tech deals. We are hopeful that your explanation will provide insight that may clear this matter up. |
I hope this is enough of an explanation.
Krill
P.S. We will send you very soon a proposal for border agreement although we have not full information about the territories between us.
Obviously you have access to more technologies than us but you don't have all . Could we work a tech trade agreement? We are finishing Math research soon. |

[21.04.2005 9:29:06] Paddy:
hello matey
[21.04.2005 9:31:21] ormuzd:
plato is not online and I have just read the dg forum
[21.04.2005 9:31:38] ormuzd:
and wondered what did you mean with this surrender
[21.04.2005 9:31:42] Paddy:
which thread ?
[21.04.2005 9:32:02] Paddy:
that be fine,
[21.04.2005 9:33:05] Paddy:
many ideas come to mind
[21.04.2005 9:33:16] Paddy:
do you have a few minutes to discuss
[21.04.2005 9:33:23] ormuzd:
yes
[21.04.2005 9:33:28] Paddy:
thank you
[21.04.2005 9:33:51] Paddy:
I was unsure if you were still talking with me :'(
[21.04.2005 9:34:35] ormuzd:
this is the usual weapon of the women
[21.04.2005 9:34:42] ormuzd:
at least of those I know
[21.04.2005 9:34:49] Paddy:
what do you mean
[21.04.2005 9:35:10] ormuzd:
to stop talking when they are disappointed (with me)
[21.04.2005 9:35:22] Paddy:
oh ok
[21.04.2005 9:35:30] Paddy:
ok, surrender
we have a simple way of it.
You stand your troops down, and we occupy your lands
your people become Horde
[21.04.2005 9:39:01] ormuzd:
aha, fine
[21.04.2005 9:39:35] ormuzd:
do you really expect that we will do this?
[21.04.2005 9:39:45] Paddy:
no
[21.04.2005 9:40:01] Paddy:
but I must be honest with you
[21.04.2005 9:40:13] ormuzd:
I'll try to translate the words of one of my predcessors - he was a real Khan
[21.04.2005 9:40:23] Paddy:
what would you offer
[21.04.2005 9:40:39] ormuzd:
'You have taken what you could, now leave our territories'
[21.04.2005 9:41:26] Paddy:
Thank you for that quotation
[21.04.2005 9:42:26] ormuzd:
what did yo mean with this "but I must be honest with you"?
[21.04.2005 9:43:53] Paddy:
you ask what did the Horde mean by surrender, I told you, why make it look sweeter than it is.
thus be honest from start of negotiation
[21.04.2005 9:44:33] ormuzd:
I see, thanks
[21.04.2005 9:44:47] ormuzd:
you expected to take us with 5 warriors?
[21.04.2005 9:45:13] Paddy:
5 warriors have done quite a bit
[21.04.2005 9:45:24] ormuzd:
just because I didn't expect such cowardness...
after the last time I've told to myself never to trust to a human opponent
[21.04.2005 9:45:46] Paddy:
cowardness?
[21.04.2005 9:46:02] ormuzd:
but I said - "It's paddy. There are other members but he is their chief, hewill not allow such shamous deeds"
[21.04.2005 9:46:06] ormuzd:
of course
[21.04.2005 9:46:37] ormuzd:
PLATO said your warriors are only scouting, they are not going to war
[21.04.2005 9:46:38] Paddy:
where was I a coward
[21.04.2005 9:47:28] ormuzd:
saying peaceful mission and attacking... this makes me so disappointed
not the attack by itself
[21.04.2005 9:48:46] Paddy:
Lord Ormuzd, we were peaceful until the demands of your nation were too much.
[21.04.2005 9:49:40] ormuzd:
too much? what was too much? toleave us space to breathe? to take he only source of iron we could see?
[21.04.2005 9:51:51] Paddy:
Space to breathe, of that would have been a pleasure indeed
yet many a communication with your people was rebuffed, and then your nation started to dictate to our Warriors that were in International Land.
Then, and yes then you settled around a fortified Warrior of ours, the late Heavy Axes
[21.04.2005 9:54:35] ormuzd:
when did we stop respond to your requests? what have we done to make you feel we do not treat you as friends?
[21.04.2005 9:55:53] ormuzd:
krill being an English doesn't excuse him but there are many non-English native speakers around
you can't blame for not exact expressing
[21.04.2005 9:56:08] Paddy:
please understand that I sit here in my car along war from such files
these would definitly be issues for my foriegn affairs people "the Blood Cell" to provide
[21.04.2005 9:56:10] ormuzd:
that's why we have clarified what do we want from your warriors
[21.04.2005 9:57:20] ormuzd:
oh, sorry
we may continue when you have more time
[21.04.2005 9:57:40] Paddy:
I have the time now my friend, just not every detail
[21.04.2005 9:59:29] ormuzd:
maybe I didn't understand quite well your last post
[21.04.2005 10:00:35] Paddy:
You asked for details of previous correspodense etc
I do not have such access here is what I meant
[21.04.2005 10:01:17] ormuzd:
ah, ok
[21.04.2005 10:01:47] ormuzd:
I don't have them either
but they were between me and ljube, after this plato
[21.04.2005 10:06:53] Paddy:
sorry phone call
[21.04.2005 10:07:04] Paddy:
Ok without us getting lost in the details of how and why our Grand Nations are now at war
and before we get back to the issue of Surender
I would like to ask your opinion on this question, would you consider it war if someone built a settlement next to a warrior of yours that was fortified?
[21.04.2005 10:14:37] ormuzd:
in this case - no
[21.04.2005 10:15:00] ormuzd:
just as I removed the warrior when you settled right before him
[21.04.2005 10:15:27] Paddy:
Thank you for your response
[21.04.2005 10:15:37] ormuzd:
if it were a place near both borders, I could think for an attack because the opportunity is good
[21.04.2005 10:16:17] ormuzd:
because it is us or they
but this land was so far away from you that you should not even think about settling there
[21.04.2005 10:17:11] Paddy:
Indeed you make a good statement
and it leads me to think you and I should have spent many times before now discussing and building our Nations closer
[21.04.2005 10:18:14] ormuzd:
damn
is it only because of last message from krill?
[21.04.2005 10:18:28] Paddy:
It is the nature of such times and with more than two people that make us a Horde, and a Horde with desires and certainly with EGO
[21.04.2005 10:18:42] ormuzd:
I have prepared a tech agreement, border agreement
and everything is ruined
[21.04.2005 10:18:50] Paddy:
yes, that last message from Krill was indeed the catalyst
[21.04.2005 10:19:20] Paddy:
that is indeed a shame
[21.04.2005 10:19:41] Paddy:
for now your people have been grieviously hurt
and my warriors Blooded
[21.04.2005 10:19:50] Paddy:
a dangerous time indeed
[21.04.2005 10:30:53] Paddy:
have you finished with me here Lord Ormuzd?
or shall we hear some of your thoughts on Surrender?
[21.04.2005 10:32:58] ormuzd:
of, sorry
I was distracted with such trivial things like work
[21.04.2005 10:33:15] ormuzd:
no, I think we have finished
I'll give a choice
[21.04.2005 10:33:26] ormuzd:
1. leave with your spoils
[21.04.2005 10:33:48] ormuzd:
2. capture more cities and workers of ours; probably generating great leader
[21.04.2005 10:33:56] ormuzd:
(even capturing cities)
[21.04.2005 10:34:28] ormuzd:
3. loose all your troops and get a food for the carrions (because the other teams do not sleep as I have understood last night)
[21.04.2005 10:36:34] Paddy:
any more?
[21.04.2005 10:37:00] ormuzd:
anything you could imagine
[21.04.2005 10:37:03] Paddy:
for I see nothing there that comes near your terms of surrender
[21.04.2005 10:37:53] ormuzd:
the best option for me is 1, next best 3, than anything you propose, complete surrender (not an option) and option 2
[21.04.2005 10:38:15] ormuzd:
we will NOT surrender
this is it
[21.04.2005 10:38:37] Paddy:
Thank you for this chat
[21.04.2005 10:38:45] Paddy:
Until we talk again
[21.04.2005 10:38:55] Paddy:
May your people honour your decisions
[21.04.2005 10:39:00] ormuzd:
have a nice day/evening
[21.04.2005 10:39:23] ormuzd:
honor? by Ankh-Morpork? you must be kidding
we are survivors... :0

quote: Paddy,
quote:
yes it was within your borders, for only that turn you settled next to two of our warriors, one of which was fortified on that mountain with iron in it. if you had waited a turn, we may have still had peace... but you demanded we move, threatened us, then you settled and said we were in your lands... thus we took that as a declaration of war... and thus the hands of our warriors reached out and dismissed your spearmsn and destroyed your new city a very very sad day indeed
No, trust me we did not want to anger you, and we did not mean to precipitate a war either, but we needed to start settling our cities, as we were already far behind in land area and number of cities. In that PM I sent on wednesday, I gave you positions from which you could still look into our territory, and into Babylons territory, and over look a fair portinn of unsettled lands beside...We would not have said anything if you started to moved to those positions.
Even if you moved the warrior that was on the hill (Heavy Axes?) onto the iron, I would have trusted you if you had moved the other warrior off the iron, towards the positions I had sent. Unfortunatly you have forced our hand now.
---
I might as well say this now, so here goes. I think you may be offended, but please take it with good humour.
There is still a chance for peace: We would want our workers back, and alot of tech points (say, twenty tech points). However the problems with this are that if you disbanded the workers, you would have to send us 6 of your workers, and I know that you would never agree to that.
If you took this offer we could easily put our past behind us, and become allies again. I know it is a long shot, maybe even impossible as you are outnumbered in your team, but I have hope...

From Plato:
quote: Lord Krill,
As The Ambassador to The Ankh-Morpork nation, The Great and Glorious Khan has copied me on your most recent communication. We enjoyed reading it as we reviewed the communications from our field commanders. Perhaps there will be a jester’s position open for you in The Khan’s court at the conclusion of your nation’s destruction.
Your offer is hereby officially rejected by The Khan and The Great Council of the Horde.
Again your backward nation has demonstrated its arrogance by subverting normal diplomatic channels. The Khan may, at his pleasure, respond to such items, but most on the Council agree that it is a further insult to his appointed and accepted Ambassador. It is these type of insults…not responding to co-operation offers, accusing us of aggression while we are fulfilling our agreements, attempting to order our troop movements, and even now trying to subvert normal diplomatic channels…that have caused the Great Council of the Horde to take action.
However, on the small chance that these actions may be based on the backward nature of Ankh-Morpork, we shall offer the following:
1.) Immediate disbandment of all Ankh-Morpork units
2.) Immediate transfer of all cities with the exception of Home to The Blood Oath Horde.
3.) Reparations to The Blood Oath Horde in the amount of 20gpt
4.) No further construction of military units until and if The Khan decides that you may build them.
5.) Agreement to allow Blood Oath Horde troops to be stationed on Ankh-Morpork lands for all eternity.
6.) No tech research without specific Blood Oath Horde agreement
7.) All trades with other nations must be approved by The Great Council of The Blood Oath Horde.
8.) All future expansion must be approved by The Blood Oath Horde
We hope that you will accept these terms, but given the nature of your transgressions we will certainly not mourn if you do not.
The word of Heavy Axes heroic death has spread among all our troops. His name calls out for vengeance…He was Horde! Your people will soon understand what that truly means.

Final chance to avoid destruction
Lord Ormuzd,
I have sent terms for your surrender to Lord Krill these two days past. As has been the case with your nation's diplomacy, I have yet to receive a response. The window of time that your nation has to ensure its very survival is closing. Should no response be received within 24 hours of this communique, your nations destruction will be assured.
Be it known that we had hopes of peace with the Ankh-Morpork peoples, but actions such as these are the cause of your own demise.

private conversation between ormuzd and paddy on 27th April 2005
quote:
[13:58:21] Paddy: hello
[13:59:07] ormuzd: ji
[13:59:10] ormuzd: h
[13:59:46] Paddy: would like to make sure all is well between us
[14:00:00] Paddy: war can get messy
[14:00:54] ormuzd: no, I'm already enjoying it
[14:01:01] Paddy: I mean on apersonal level
[14:01:06] Paddy: cool
[14:01:12] ormuzd: I have seen we are next to play
[14:01:30] Paddy: our teams seem to be the only ones alive at this time
[14:01:34] Paddy: ahhh
[14:01:53] ormuzd: why are you so concerned about this? I had the same conversation with PLATO yesterday
[14:02:25] ormuzd: "our teams seem to be the only ones alive at this time" this seems to be the sad truth
[14:03:00] Paddy: concerned, well I would not like to have a bad relationship with you
[14:03:06] ormuzd: I can understand about the Last Boys - this team consists of almost the entire party involved in the OSDG
[14:03:14] ormuzd: * ISDG
[14:03:25] Paddy: I have greatly valued the many many hours we spent in the Viking DG
[14:03:34] ormuzd: so do I
[14:03:38] Paddy: cool
[14:04:09] ormuzd: I was really disappointed in the beginning but after you missed you r chances to destroy us I'm quite optimistic
[14:04:20] Paddy: as to Plato, well I do feel a level of guilt that he was sent on diplomatic missions, when other plans were also brewing
[14:04:28] Paddy: hehe
[14:04:35] ormuzd: the situation is already under control we are only a settler and two workers behind
[14:04:43] Paddy: indeed
[14:05:16] ormuzd: I have never made such attack is the purpose of the warrior rush to make just little damage?
[14:05:39] Paddy: slice and dice you a bit
[14:05:40] ormuzd: in the only game I have rushed I used jaguar warriors and the opponent was destroyed for less than 10 turns
[14:05:49] Paddy: hehe
[14:06:06] ormuzd: I think the price for this will be too great but it is your decision
[14:06:33] Paddy: we would not have attacked except for Krills actions
[14:06:33] Paddy: hehe
[14:06:33] Paddy: joys of war
[14:07:09] ormuzd: common, noone sends five warriors near the border of someone just because he has nothing to do
[14:07:18] ormuzd: it's not krill
[14:08:23] Paddy: 1 scout, Becks Beer Boys 2 Lookouts, Heavy Axes & Bataar
1 warrior sent to take out barbarians to your north
[14:09:34] Paddy: so I take it you will have war chariots in the coming 4 -5 turns
[14:09:55] Paddy: then you will be coming to visit our place I dare say
[14:10:04] ormuzd: 2 scouts to us they revealed almost nothing else except our capital
[14:10:10] Paddy: bloody egyptians
[14:10:39] ormuzd: I've said to PLATO too- Egypt is too powerul civilization even in the hands of someone like me
[14:10:56] Paddy: haha, awesome statement
[14:11:19] ormuzd: the problem is we will waste our GA
[14:11:24] Paddy: ouch
[14:11:34] Paddy: that is expensive this early
[14:12:24] ormuzd: if there are no real opponents the price is acceptable
[14:12:33] Paddy: hehe, well said
[14:13:26] ormuzd: if you were litle more patient we could launch atack on Babylon
[14:14:14] Paddy: ahhh and you say that to me, and that it was not Krill.... hehe and of the ordering our troops around...?
[14:14:24] Paddy: yes would like to fight Babylon
[14:14:40] Paddy: wish we had been communicating like this so much earlier
[14:15:36] ormuzd: I was really busy bought new house, had to find money about it, after this make some repairs
[14:15:50] ormuzd: almost no free time
[14:16:06] Paddy: ahhhh
[14:16:18] Paddy: bugger
[14:16:20] ormuzd: but I can use the free time now to plan the attack I just wonderwho should be our target *rolls eyes*
[14:16:31] Paddy: That is great news, sad for demo game
[14:16:36] Paddy: hehe
[14:16:50] Paddy: welll you have a great civ and a slight hiccup
[14:17:03] Paddy: you will see we are leaving
[14:18:07] ormuzd: why?
[14:18:30] ormuzd: it was a good opportunity
[14:19:40] Paddy: well your notes, Krills words etc have reached the Horde
[14:20:07] ormuzd: you are really a chaotic team
[14:20:17] Paddy: thank you
[14:20:23] Paddy: Blood Oath
[14:20:28] Paddy: 15 members
[14:20:49] ormuzd: all active?

[14:21:19] Paddy: 1 away on long family matter

[14:21:32] Paddy: 2 in and out every fortnight
[14:21:54] Paddy: and only 3 of us are former DGers
[14:21:59] Paddy: sorry 4

battle report sent regarding action in 2270 BC
quote: Hello, PLATO, Ambassdor of the barbaric horde and representative of your khan,
Risking to ruin our future peace treaty I have to inform you that your warrior band who has captured two of our workers was met by some banana robbers. The robbers were nearly killed but still survived and captured all food and gold of your warrior.
We apologize to the families of the warriors who died this day and to your Horde Counsil. All we know exploring jungles is a risky task, especially near Ankh-Morpork.

We don't have a settler right now but it will be ready very soon. It is good you have informed us so early about your itentions toward the settler so that we won't waste time leading the settler here and there

We will try although paying for unit support, giving you gold to help monarchy research and sparing for horse upgrade will slow this research. Anyway we will have more clearer vision after we reorganize.

Hello Plato, are you online at the moment?
PLATO says:
Hey Krill! I am at work and may have to "disapear" at any second, but I'm here now! How are you?
PLATO says:
oops...bak now
PLATO says:
back...
Krill says:
Fine thanks. I just want to apologise for not talkng to you before now.
PLATO says:
no problem
Krill says:
just so you now, there is a babylonian scout (conscript warrior) south west of Memphis
Krill says:
so it would proably be wise for you to move your army somewhere less visible
PLATO says:
hmmm...interesting
Krill says:
I would suggest that you move your army further into our borders, but we are constantly moving our army around, so we need all of our roads that we have built.
Krill says:
and another thing: do you want you a city placing 88 of home?
PLATO says:
I think this is a good idea. It won't be long before they figure out that we are no longer at war
Krill says:
if you do, we can have it sent to you in 4-5 turns
Krill says:
oh, so nobody knows that we aren't at war? I have not told anyone...
Krill says:
then again, I don't have contact with many people
PLATO says:
yes, we felt it best not to reveal that information just yet. We would ask that Ankh-Morpork does not as well. Given our long term combined plans it should work better this way
PLATO says:
you still there?
PLATO says:
hello?
Krill says:
I am now
PLATO says:
ahhh....cool
PLATO says:

hello
Chris says:
yes nice morning it is
Chris says:
what do want to talk about
Krill says:
A couple of things, regarding the horde.
Chris says:
ok
Krill says:
first of all, you first settler will be ready next turn, if the game mechanics don't mess about.
Chris says:
but give me five mins just need to get a brew
Krill says:
OK
Krill says:
Actually, now that I think about it, I might as well tell you more about the resettlement plan
Chris says:
back
Chris says:
thank God for the chinese
Krill says:
Chris says:
OK settler ready
Chris says:
resettlement plan ?
Krill says:
ready next turn
Krill says:
should be settled in 4 turns, and gifted to you on your fifth turn from now
Chris says:
have you got directions for it
Krill says:
your next settler? I do have a vague idea of where it has to go, but other than that I don't know anythng about it. I was told the tile 88 of home (I'm using the keypad for directions)
Krill says:
howeverm for the second settler, I don't have any idea.
Chris says:
88 sounds about right
Chris says:
ill have to ask Paddy myself about no 2
Krill says:
Number to should take a while, but will be within the limit
Krill says:
number 2
Chris says:
ok
Chris says:
no worries
Chris says:
if you move 88 for now with no 1 then we cam let you know between now and then further instruction
Chris says:
i dont think we want it settled at 88
Chris says:
its too close to home
Krill says:
BRB, got to pour the tea...
Chris says:
you mentioned resettlement is that about your team are you moving your palace
Chris says:
ok
Chris says:
too right everything must stop for a brew

Chris says:
haha
Chris says:
so is there any other Horde business you want to discuss
Krill says:
Er...there is something else that I was thinking about....do you have an ETA on Monarchy?
Chris says:
not at this time
Chris says:
ill have to check the latest save
Chris says:
but im not at all sure what were researching
Krill says:
damn...I was wondering if we could get it before the war with babylon.
Chris says:
ive not been very active in the horde this week due to work, i know there has been lots of debate about monarchy
Chris says:
i think the babs have sent an offer but im not sure
Chris says:
either babs or LB
Chris says:
what timetable are you placing on war with babs
Krill says:
That is the problem. WC don't upgrade to horsemen.
Krill says:
so if we are to use WC, we want to be in either monarchy or republic
Chris says:
yes
Krill says:
if you can get monarchy a couple of turns before the war breaks out, we can change govs, and all hell can break loose
Chris says:
well we will certainly try to do that
Chris says:
a gov change would be good
Krill says:
since we are religious, they aren't a problem.
Chris says:
indeed
Chris says:
2 turns
Chris says:
religious a good choice for this game
Krill says:
it was Eygpt or Carthage. If we had picked Carthage, your swords would have had a VERY rough time...
Chris says:
haha yes
Chris says:
a few of the horde were troubled by Mongolia as a choice
Chris says:
but the expansionist trait has done a wondeful job for us early game
Krill says:
I don't blame them. I could not get my head around why Mongolia were chosen.
Krill says:
But now I have an idea.
Krill says:
EXP is always a good choice on a pangaea...
Krill says:
Mil, cheap barracks..
Krill says:
find someone,
Krill says:
build up a military from the start of the game...warriors and gold...
Krill says:
kill, maim, rape, pillage...
Krill says:
As Paddy would say (at least, I think it is him), "It's all good..."
Chris says:
hehe i think you have it
Chris says:
one way we benefitted was we kept getting warriors from huts
Chris says:
big army no effort
Krill says:
I thought you would get either techs, settlers or gold....Never thought about the warriors...
Chris says:
we did get lots of techs and 1 settler
Chris says:
but hordes of warriors
Krill says:
at least in this game, the free settler does not give too much of an advantage, as every one starts with more units...
Krill says:
well, more settlers and workers...
Chris says:
yes its a game breaker in epic PBEM if one player gets lucky and pops a settler on turn 3
Chris says:
a second city 15 turns before any one else hurts
Krill says:
another game breaker is when some one nails someones four turns settler pump...the turn before it come online...
Krill says:
You do know that if you have attacked one turn later, that jungle would have been chopped, and Memphis would be pumping settlers like there was no tomorrow.
Chris says:
oops sorry bout that old chap
Chris says:
youd need to lodge that cpmplaint to the Horde red guard dept
Chris says:
complaint
Krill says:
destroying the city was not a problem, it was the workers that mattered more. We still want them back
Chris says:
lol yes i knew that would be the painful bit
Chris says:
I believe thyre headed to our capitol as we speak
Chris says:
we will beam them over soon
Chris says:
you do have a transporter room in Home dont you ?
Krill says:
yeah, I installed it the other week
Chris says:
Chris says:
so how many turns do the AM folk think they require to be prepared for an assault on babylonia
Chris says:
?
Chris says:
besides a gov change
Krill says:
No idea. twenty turns is the minimum
Chris says:
thats cool i believe that fits with our thinking
Chris says:
I can tell you Babs do not have iron or horse connected at this time
Krill says:
however, it does depend completely on monarchy, and on any strats you want to implement.
Krill says:
er, lie all you want to babylon, but we do have horses connected.
Chris says:
sorry
Chris says:
?
Krill says:
couyld you say that to the best of your knowledge, we don't have horses connected?
Chris says:
what do you mean
Krill says:
we do have horses connected.
Chris says:
yes i know you do
Chris says:
i said babs dont
Krill says:
sorry, my misunderstanding.
Chris says:
hmmm yes
Chris says:
we almost had another international incident there
Chris says:
if youd called Ljube a liar hed be banging on the war dept's doors
Chris says:
I was sharing some intel with you, we know babs do not have horse or iron hooked at this time
Krill says:
I'm not a diplomat, I'm a minister of the interior...I speak bluntly because I'm economical...Sorry about that....
Chris says:
its ok but it will cost you two more settlers
Krill says:
we can't afford to build many more settlers...and send gold to you....and keep the military...
Chris says:
hehehe just pulling your strings
Chris says:
you must learn to be careful when taking part in international discussions
Chris says:
do not make mistakes with understanding what your opposite says
Chris says:
however we all make mistakes
Krill says:
I never planned to be a diplomat...We had a couple of people who wanted that department to themselves...then they left...
Krill says:
I wanted to be the MoI....
Chris says:
yes thats a shame for your team, though its got to be easier for you two to make decisions than it is for our horde
Chris says:
15 strong now and its bloody chaos
Krill says:
don't forget, that as an even number, we can't outvote each other. Someone has to back down.
Chris says:
ouch
Krill says:
But it is the most easily organised democracy on the planet.
Chris says:
if you want i can come over and be your casting voter if you let me in your private forum
Krill says:
the privte forum has nothing in it but the diplo and a few maps. We do everything via chat.
Chris says:
hahaha
Chris says:
im sure either myself or plato or the great Khan himself can and will let you know more about monarchy later
Krill says:
thanks.
Chris says:
I have to dash off now though my youngest is playing in a beavers five a side competition and Im running late
Krill says:
Ok, have fun. hope he wins
Chris says:
nice to chat with you
Chris says:
thanks
Krill says:
Nice to chat with you as well
Chris says:
k bye for now
Krill says:
bye |

quote: Paddy says:
hello Lord Krill
Krill says:
Hello Paddy, how are you on this fine day?
Paddy says:
I be well, home 2 hours early from seeing clients
always a good thing
Krill says:

Krill says:
I talked to Chrisius the other day, so do you have the transcripts?
Paddy says:
yes
Paddy says:
I need to let you know that I have taken over all comms betwee our nation
Krill says:
thats great
Paddy says:
On that I would ask that unless Chris or Plato contact you direct (ie on behalf of me etc)
could you keep all comms to me
being chats here, or emails
Krill says:
OK, no problem.
Paddy says:
I am happy for you to cc Chris and Plato on all emails
Paddy says:
tx mate
Krill says:
OK. Understood.
Paddy says:
hehe
Krill says:
anything you want/need to know?
Paddy says:
no matey
Paddy says:
just wanted to say hello
Krill says:

Paddy says:
how goes the settler, did he start off on his journey?
Krill says:
he is on his way to the hill 88 of Home.
Paddy says:
where did he start from
Krill says:
Memphis.
Paddy says:
tx
Paddy says:
so where is he now?
Krill says:
on the mountain 8 of Home.
Paddy says:
tx
Krill says:
I was told that you weren't certain where you wanted to settle the city.
Paddy says:
haha
Paddy says:
we have several sites
Krill says:

Paddy says:
lifeb is like that
Paddy says:
my concern is protecting the settler from babs and dr
Paddy says:
they both have warriors in the land
Krill says:
I have a reg spear on him.
Paddy says:
thank you
Krill says:
if you could spare two swords as an honour guard, I'm sure he would be fine from everything.
Paddy says:
done
Krill says:
I doubt a conscript warrior would damage the spear, but better safe than sorry.
Krill says:
And I don't know about the barbs
Paddy says:
indeed
Krill says:
Also, Do you have any idea where you want the second city to go?
Krill says:
And do you have an ETA on Monarchy?
Paddy says:
back again
Paddy says:
how long before the 2nd would be ready
Krill says:
depends on where the second city position is, could be two turns, or five.
Paddy says:
oh, ok
why the difference old chap?
Krill says:
well, two or five turns until the settler is built.
Krill says:
probably two turns, but it depends on if we have the units in place to protect the settler.
Paddy says:
ahhh well interesting
Paddy says:
ok
Paddy says:
I will get onto our Hordeland Control Board and let them nominatae
Krill says:
actually, now that I have just recheked the save, I'd say two turns.
Paddy says:
should have sites for you this time 2 days
Paddy says:
tx mate
Krill says:
we can have the units in place by then
Paddy says:

Paddy says:
off to make a cuppa
will you be here in 10 mins
Krill says:
cya, I think I'll do the same.
Krill says:
back
Paddy says:
hello again
Krill says:
Hello.
Paddy says:
have you and Ormuzd chattered lately
Krill says:
Not since wednesday.
Paddy says:
ok
Paddy says:
I offered Literature, he adviced that we offer it to Babs
they are on Monachy at the moment
Babs jumped at it
waiting on Beta coming home in next 24 hours to know how many turns
Paddy says:
no comment
Krill says:
OK, thanks for the info. If Eygpt can get into a monarchy prior to the war, we can do our share of the killing.
Paddy says:
saw you typing then nothing
Paddy says:
ahhh
Paddy says:
We hope you get it real soon
Krill says:
I am thinking about getting into Monarchy as soon as we get it.
Paddy says:
Babs owe us
Paddy says:
cool
Krill says:
Problem is, of course, the unit support.
Paddy says:
indeed
Krill says:
we could just about support it if you resent that 9gpt we are sending you.
Krill says:
well, that is really just a rough, and conservative, estimate
Paddy says:
indeed
Paddy says:
so I have much to discuss with you on Babs and diplomacy
Krill says:
really? Like discussion between us and the babs? Or discussion between BOH and the babs?
Paddy says:
all of the above
Krill says:
you can probably tell I am not a dilplomat at heart...
Paddy says:
how are your relations at this time
Paddy says:
indeed
Paddy says:

Krill says:
Basically, we have a rough border treaty, the southern mountain range.
Paddy says:
what do you see yourself as?
Krill says:
but we don't talk much, maybe one pm per week. if we are (un)lucky.
Krill says:
At the moment? well...average military.
Krill says:
economy wise, we are probaby average, but we can make WC, so that really tips the balance in our favour.
Paddy says:
I meant more of what do you see yourself as in player styles if not a diplomat
Paddy says:
war chariots are cool
Krill says:
that I understand I lot better. They did not invest in granaries, REXing when they hit a certain pop size.
Krill says:
They aren't building their cheap temples, but it loks like they ant lit for the cheap libs instead, so they are playing a long term game at the moment, without building a huge military.
Paddy says:
yes
Krill says:
well, It looks like they are playing builder, but badly.
Krill says:
IMO
Paddy says:
ahhh
Krill says:
then again, this is comingfrom someone who was warrior rushed...
Paddy says:
they have a warrior near memphis
Krill says:
a conscript
Paddy says:
ok
Krill says:
weakest unit you can get that has a defense stat. The perfect "scout"
Paddy says:
there is another north of our lands
Krill says:
few feel threatened by it, I suppose...
Krill says:
sorry, that was a repy to my former post.
Krill says:
Thay probably just want to scout. We've got a warrior behind DR.
Paddy says:
ahhh way do\wn south east
Krill says:
near your scout?
Paddy says:
oh near the volcaonoes
Krill says:
We'll probably see it shortly, but Cohen is returning home...
Krill says:
our warrior healing on the volcanoe...
Paddy says:
cool
Krill says:
Also, would it be possible for me and Ormuzd to talk to your generals when we near the date of invasion? We need to sort out our troop positions, tactics, and what not.
Paddy says:
That be me, I am the WarLord of the Red Guard
Krill says:
Ah, good. You might like to hear some of my proposals.
Krill says:
first of all, because Eygpyt is after babylon, but before BOH in the turn order, it is best that we attack first, so that the BAB unts can't heal before your attack.
Paddy says:
I wiull let you write while I put some dinnewr on
Paddy says:
will read asd I go
Krill says:
but because your units are slow movers, you have to move next to the cities the turn before we attack.
Krill says:
OK, thanks.
Krill says:
so you are going to need "Combat settlers" to push back any evil culture that the babylonians have produced.
Krill says:
I reckon you need about 3 settlers minimum at the start of the war, maybe as many as 6. Luckily we could help to supply these by building the city, then gifting it to you.
Krill says:
you are going to need more swords. You are going toneed spears to protect them from any counterattacks you face. and I mean about 4 spears, 15 swords, and for good luck, catapults. Preferably about 10.
Krill says:
However, I seriously doubt you could a) build these and have them in position for the start of the war, and b) pay the support costs.
Krill says:
if we scedule the war for 25 turns from now (could be sooner), we could put up 15+ WC, if we don't get monarchy until (near) the start of the war.
Paddy says:
looks interesting
Krill says:
If we got Monarchy in about 10 turns, we could build more, but I don't know how many more
Paddy says:
ahhh
Krill says:
Point is, at the start of the war we will trigger our GA.
Paddy says:
yes
Krill says:
IF we get Monarchy sooner, I can get Eygpt in a postion to build a lot of military. Couple of WC a turn, easy.
Paddy says:
good value
Krill says:
If we get it late, we won't be in as good a position, maybe a WC a turn, maybe not.
Paddy says:
hopefully Babs will have it soon
Krill says:
I do hope they get it soon as well, and send it to you. I really do.
Paddy says:
well a new era is soon upon our fine nations
Krill says:
Med Era?
Krill says:
don't forget that the techs there cost alot of beakers.
Krill says:
Feud costs 800 beakers.
Paddy says:
indeed
Krill says:
with our GA, and if you sent us some gold, we could get that very quickly. we could probably get rather close to Knights...
Paddy says:
Horde Auditors will be most interested in this
Krill says:
well, I've sent the save now.
Paddy says:
cool
Paddy says:
I hereby officially offer your nation te use of our Auditor General.
A very useful chap, with a great knowledge, and an interesting twist on matters
Paddy says:
Meat in oven, working on vegies
Krill says:
who is your auditor general?
Krill says:
sunday roast?
Paddy says:
Rob
Paddy says:
yeah it is sunday indeed
Krill says:
Sorry, I don't know most peoples real names, only their screen names.
Krill says:
rcoutme?
Krill says:
after checking you civ group.
Paddy says:
yes
Paddy says:
if you have any questions for him, please do not hesitate to list them for me, and I will get him to look them over
Krill says:
er, my first question would be: Why no granary in you capital. It is an 8 turn settler pump, capable of producing 50 shields worth of units, and a settler every eight turns. yet you have it set to growth every 20 turns, building units. Why?
Paddy says:
ahh and that helps you how?
Paddy says:
auditing questions matey, not Horde Growth questions
Paddy says:
but I will ask anyway
Paddy says:

Krill says:
Well, we pretty much have everything sorted over here. Me and Ormuzd can MM no problem, so we don't really need the help, but thanks all the same
Paddy says:
cheers
Paddy says:
just so you know these services are available if you need them at such times
Paddy says:
as to our growth, you know we have 15 members, so in that the logic of 1 or 2 can be lost when numbers make themselves felt
Krill says:
Thanks. We may have a couple of questions for him involving finances at some point in the future.
Paddy says:
and how be your relations with old man aqua the desolator?
Krill says:
BRB
Krill says:
back
Krill says:
Back for real now
Krill says:
Let me put it this way. If I was Euphoricas shoes I would not stop til I had wiped aqua off the map. But that is just me.
Krill says:
I'm not a nice person when it comes to competitions
Paddy says:

Paddy says:
hehe
Krill says:
It stems from the fact that he demanded MM from us, for some info during our war that we already had. I'll be damned if someone thinks they can order me around when they are on the other side of the world.
Paddy says:
Aqua, Lord of the Arrogance
Krill says:
that is him alright.
Krill says:
But he is a very...resourceful player. And Trip is on that team, so I would be loathe to underestimate them.
Paddy says:
well said
Krill says:
I'm not sure, but I think that they just upgraded some warriors, so you may want to check F3 when you get the save, to see if they are average to you.
Paddy says:
ok
Paddy says:
I know they have iron and horse connected |

Chat on 17th May 2005
quote: ormuzd: what should we discuss?
Paddy: Red Guard Operations have determined that the Babylonians are at this time a plum target
that they have failed to produce units at this time, and have allowed themselves to be targets for our Two Nations
ormuzd: RGO is your military department, isn't it?
Paddy: Red Guard is our Army
Paddy: Red Guard Operations is our military planning and intel department
Paddy: at this time we have scouts determining whether we could get forces of our nations into Babylon with little notice
Paddy: we believe we can achieve such actions shortly after the deal for Horde Lit - Bab Monachy to be completed
we determine that Babs will have Mona\chy in 10 turns
ormuzd: the majority of our forces consists of fast moving units
Paddy: yes indeed
ormuzd: we plan to continue produce WC
Paddy: a crushing force
Paddy: excellent
ormuzd: we could switch to another type of units and form a SoD with various units
Paddy: ahhh RGO Lt Col. Ljube would like to make some suggestions on that I am more than sure he is like that
Paddy: Now, just so we are clear on the rolls here
I be the WarLord of the Red Guard
Bongo be 1st General of the Red Guard
Ljube be Lt. Colonel, the Chief of Red Guard Operations
ormuzd: if you allow me an advice - build some spearmen to accompany your army
if you do not allow me, just ignore this one
Paddy: hehe
Paddy: RGO feels they are not needed
ormuzd: ok, this means we should talk to you, Bongo or Ljube preferably inthis order regarding ou future operations
Paddy: as our swordsmen have 2 defense, along with the 3 attack, where the spear are only defensive
Paddy: ahh on comms, at this time I be your nations Prime conbtact point
ormuzd: I won't go in details because youhave shown as better strategists so far
Paddy: Our Horde diplomatic branch has asked that I, Khan, be your nations contact, due to the friendship that you and I have.
Paddy: I be honoured to have this role with your nation
ormuzd: but I really think it is a good idea to have some units which could be left as defenders of the cities or take the initial punches from the resisters we could expect in that environment
ormuzd: it is a real pleasure for us to have you as the main contact person to us
Paddy: have no fear, Lt Col Ljube, along with many others in the Horde will be reading this chat
Paddy: tx Ormuzd
ormuzd: let's summerize the chat so far
we are planning the operation "south culture visit" (SCV) to start aprox. 10 turns later
Paddy: I do not have an exact time frame
ormuzd: if we have questions we address them directly to the Great Khan of the Horde
Paddy: yes planning is now underway
Paddy: yes all questions to me
ormuzd: very well what is next?
Paddy: if I am not on chat, please email me, I will have an answer as soon as I can
ormuzd: ok
Paddy: RGO would like a listing of what units that you have so they can add to war plan
once plans prepared, I will present them to you and Krill to check and approve
Paddy: then I would like to organize a chat between the 4 of us You, Krill, Ljube and I
ormuzd: currently we have 19 units (I have seen their count yesterday, so the number is correct)
ormuzd: let's see if I'll be able to count them correctly
Paddy: in this we need to manourve the units that we have within your lands and do this in a way as to not cause you concern
Paddy: it is the hope of RGO to hand you the keys of Babylon in the coming 20 -25 turns.
ormuzd: 3 spearmen
5 warriors
3 war chariots
3 horsemen
3 workers
2 settlers
Paddy: at minimun to have broken them, and for your nation to own several of their cities soon
ormuzd: exactly 19
Paddy: thank you
ormuzd: horsemen - one regular, one vet, one elite chariots - 2 veteran, 1 regular
warriors - all regulars, two are on scouting mission
spearmen - 1 regular, 1 veteran, 1 regular or veteran, not sure
ormuzd: my memory is quite weak, sorry
Paddy: your information will do Ljube good
Paddy: RGO have some good minds
Paddy: it is our intel that no nation (possibly DR) have an understanding of the peace between our peoples
ormuzd: we were 1st in Mfg at the time we have made our alliance agreement but we are lower ranked now
ormuzd: I think there is no reason for anyone to think the opposite
I think noone has an embassy in our Home
the only units we have seen are one Bab warrior and on DR warrior
ormuzd: the bab warrior has headed north of Memphis and it is out of sight for us
Paddy: yes and we have stayed away from both mainly
ormuzd: the "military zone" is between us and noone should have an idea what troops are moving there
Paddy: our understanding through intell is that they bother are heading to our north, where both already have a warrior each circlimg
ormuzd: no scouts spotted at our borders
Paddy: DR have a warrior in there
ormuzd: two warriors can't be a problm
Paddy: 4 intotal, but not a problem
ormuzd: should we send a chariot to expect future bab movement?
Paddy: I will leave that for RGO to say at this time
Paddy: do you have map making at this time?
ormuzd: yes, we have
Paddy: ok, thanks
ormuzd: I think youhave it too
Paddy: yes we do indeed
Paddy: we should have plans in the next two turns.
Paddy: we need some intel on bab troop movements etc then we can give some better plans than what we could offer right now
ormuzd: ok
ormuzd: we should make an internal discussion too
Paddy: good
ormuzd: what is next?
Paddy: not much
Paddy: that was my main point
ormuzd: thank you very much abou this
ormuzd: than I'm going to ask one-two things
ormuzd: first - I'm not sure what did you discuss with krill and what not
Paddy: I offered to Krill the other night the use of our Horde Auditor General's department just if you ever need a back stop etc
ormuzd: I have read his reports about the talks he had with your team
Paddy: I can send you the transcript
ormuzd: we have the transcript, no problem
ormuzd: it's just my memory as I said earlier
Paddy: yes, talks with my team I ask that I be the only point of contact at the moment
saves all that confusion like we had last week
ormuzd: my questions are towards the budget sphere
Paddy: bring them on
ormuzd: having the monarchy secured we have three sciences in this ancient era, one of them beaing optional
ormuzd: we are researching the republic now at the lowest possible rate
ormuzd: this means we need 46 turns more until we have it
ormuzd: we have an agreement with DR for Currency the Currency should be sent from DR very shortly
ormuzd: but if they don't we will try our best to make them pay for this
ormuzd: construction is my concern
Paddy: I believe we have a deal that will secure us construction
ormuzd: while we are researching republic I think we have one option less for aquiring it
ormuzd: oh, this is great then
ormuzd: in this case I'd like to ask for the gold we are sending each turn - 9 gold pieces
ormuzd: currently we are at 10% science and we earn almost nothing due many our expectations
Paddy: ahh indeed
ormuzd: the idea with the gold was to help you research monarchy as fast as possibl
Paddy: I will take that to the Grand Council
ormuzd: having secured it and the other two important techs I think
Paddy: should have an answer quickly
ormuzd: yes, thanks
ormuzd: if we are going to build swordsmen we will use the gold to upgrade some axe warriors to fine swordsmen
ormuzd: and the upgrade is littlle bit expensive
Paddy: indeed, 60 gold per upgrade
Paddy: I believe RGO would like you to upgrade your WC to Horsemen... I need to check that though
ormuzd: this is impossible I think we have mentioned this problem already
ormuzd: aditionally having the monarchy and little bit cities I think we would like to trigger our GA
Paddy: ahh indeed
ormuzd: thus developing our cities and building some GW
ormuzd: but the last option is something we could discuss later
ormuzd: it is just a general idea which was not even discussed in our team
Paddy: do tell
ormuzd: one more thing
ormuzd: the settler is on the position you have requested initially
ormuzd: where should we move him next?
ormuzd: we are expecting your next order where should we move the settler
Paddy: track him 8 once more, then east to our lands
ormuzd: 8, then 9 or
8 then 6?
Paddy: 9
ormuzd: I hope you have some troops in the region to protect him?
Paddy: it is my hope that we have the final answer to you soon
Paddy: yes
ormuzd: we have sent a spearman and a warr chariot
Paddy: and Krill said the 2nd one is almost ready
ormuzd: 5 turns at most but I think it will be ready 1 or 2 turns earlier
Paddy: thank you
ormuzd: it is created in memphis
Paddy: ok
ormuzd: just to help you make optimal movement orders for him
Paddy: thank you
Paddy: you mentioned earlier - it is just a general idea which was not even discussed in our team
Paddy: would you like to discuss this ?
ormuzd: about triggering the GA and how to use it
ormuzd: I can't discuss nothing yet
ormuzd: I\m not even sure
Paddy: ok matey
ormuzd: what, where and how to do it
Paddy: understanding that we can have back of house - unofficial chats
ormuzd: of cours
ormuzd: is it anything else to discuss official?
Paddy: and Horde wants to see you and your nation flourish
Paddy: looks all good to me
Paddy: thank you
ormuzd: great
ormuzd: thank you too
Paddy: possible request of RGO coming thropugh
Paddy: could you please provide info on the position of bab units west of Felinicity
ormuzd: we have no scouts there
ormuzd: the only unit we have seen is a conscript warrior who should be somewhere north of Memphis
Paddy: is there a chance you could sent a warrior to have a look
ormuzd: I think we could send a unit to see what is happening there
Paddy: thank you
ormuzd: what are youexpectin to see there?
ormuzd: or this is the only area you are not covering with your scouts?
Paddy: we have no idea, thus reason for intel
ormuzd: fine

Paddy: ok
ormuzd: out of curiosity what is your current army?
Paddy: messy and massive
Paddy: which one?
Paddy: we have two operational armies, along with garrisons

quote: Operation Slamdunk
Allied attack on Babylon by Blood Oath Horde and Ankh-Morpork.
The current turn (turn 1910 BC) will be considered Turn 1 of our joint military enterprise.
The primary target of our attack is the Babylonian city of Felinicity, Beta’s favourite city.
For this attack the Horde has dedicated Army Group West consisting of 8 veteran swordsmen, 2 veteran archers and one elite warrior.
It is expected that Ankh-Morpork will provide only the mobile component for this attack. This means that the Horde will suffer the brunt of the initial attack by the Babylonian forces stationed in Felinicity. AM force should number 10 mobile veteran units (horse/WC) and 3 to 4 spearmen (they need not be vets) so it does not appear as an attractive target for the Babylonian horses.
Army Group West will proceed toward the Babylonian land along the following lines:
Army West will consolidate on jungle 3-6 from AM iron mountain.
Bloodletter will move: 2-2-2-1-2 (red line) and will reach the assembly area on Turn 6.
Task Force Bataar consisting of 2 swords and one elite warrior has a head start of 1 turn compared to Bloodletter. They could reach the assembly area on Turn 5, but they will not because they will generally move in that direction, i.e. 2-2-3-3 (purple line - broken), but also monitor the movement of the DR warrior Dave who can be a hostile informant.
Bloodseeker will join taskforce Bataar moving 3-3-3-3-3 (purple line).
Task Force Bloodshaft inside AM territory consisting of 2 vet archers and 4 vet swords will move as if they are preparing to attack the AM horse city. They will move: 3-2-6-9-6 (dark red).
Army West will be fully formed on Turn 6 at the prearranged spot. Then Army West will proceed 2-2-2-2 (blue circle) at which point it will become visible to the Babylonians in Felinicity. This will be on turn 10. They can be in position to attack on turn 12.
This means that AM has time until turn 11 to comprise a force of 10 veteran horses or war chariots and move them on hill 3-3 (yellow circle) from horse city together with 3-4 spears.
The timeframe is such that the shock and surprise of our attack will surely crush the moral of the Babylonians and they may start abandoning their settlements.
A subsidiary operation will be undertaken by a detachment of Horde horses. Three veteran and one elite horse will be deployed on hill 8-8-7-7 from the Babylonian city of Kurra on Turn 10 so they can be moved to strike position on turn 11.
This plan is subject to change on the Turn 2, Turn 3 and Turn 4, pending the scouting intel provided by our Horde Long Eyes scout and one AM warrior scout which will move out of horse city and assume course 6-9-9-9. |

My response to this (sent via email to paddy):
quote: Some thoughts and updates to your war plan:
These are entirely my ideas, not discussed with Krill. I want just to make some clarifications.
After two turns we will have a city on the desert tile located 11 from your gathering position (6633 from Home).
Where is heading or at least you hope is heading the Babylonian army?
We have two scouting units on the mountains which will be crossed by your Army West, so no need to send a warrior this way. Or you meant to send a scout Southwest of our Horse city?
We have a sight on the West territory of Felincity - there are no improvements like roads, mines or irrigation. There are and never have been seen any units.
IMO we may be not fully prepared for this assault after 12 turns but we need to discuss things once again with Krill.
I know you have informed us several times but we have warned you about this problem too. Having exact date of the start of operation Slamdunk we will make/change plans and send you response back (probably after 14 hours). |
