Help me with one more challenge....Stocks Full PM-box? Change here!

Ok, your mission should you decide to accept it is to help us find out about some stock certificates we just found. I have no freeking clue as to where to look, begin or what. My guess is it's something that doesn't even exist anymore but the name on the stock certificate is Legend City Incorporated out of Arizona.

Certificate reads that (dad's name) is the owner of twenty five shares of the class a capital stock of Legend City, Inc. They were purchased in April of 1962. I've never heard of it so I'm guessing it's worth bubkiss! But we need to figure this out so......a little help here pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese.

Behold! The Power of Google! Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

According to what I found on Google, Legend City was an amusement park in Arizona. Since I only found oblique references, I would imagine they are no longer in business.

You should contact the state government of Arizona.

Here's an address
North 56th Street & East Washington Boulevard
Phoenix, Arizona

They are indeed gone.

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Sure! You can have 1/3 and I keep the rest how's that sound. Mind you, it was only bought for 50 cents per share so I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you.

I did find this, I'm not sure if they are talking about the same legend city.

It's about some kind of amusement park. They say it closed down.

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

It's possible there are some unclaimed dividends sitting around, so don't throw away that stock just yet.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

the site che posted has an email address. I'm not sure if the runners of the site would have any information, but maybe could point you to someone who has.

the name of this place rings a bell. I probably heard the name mentioned when I was a kid by some other kid who went there. I have never been there, however.

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Well, according to a clipping of a newspaper on the site, the place never seemed to make any money, so it's unlikely there's anything to claim.

On the other hand, people might buy the stock as memerobilia.

Thanks guys. It seems to have the same logo on the certificate and I would imagine that this is what it is. Damn! Would have been great to cash in on that in the 70's but oh well.

Considering it was an amusement park, it's very posible that it would have some sentimental value for people.

To find out if a company is in existence you need to do a corporate records search. If you know the state involved its very easy to do. National searches are also possible but will cost a bit more. The corporate paralegal at any reasonable sized law firm could have any available infor in a day but if you know the state of registration it should just be a simple inquiry to the appropriate corporate registry.

Just because the corporate name at that time is the same as an amusement park does not mean that was their only corporate asset nor does it mean they go by the same name now. Its probably worth the nominal fee at a corporate registry to find out. Chances are the stock is worthless but who knows??

Great Story

I didn't read it all, but it explains why the park failed

and give three maxims about money which I think is interesting:

1. You can't both give up power and keep it
2. Money corupts those who have not earned it
3. Mixing in-laws and ambiguity makes dynamite
