Has anyone found out what router ports need to be set in order to host a multiplayer game?
I've tried hosting a friend over the multiplayer server, but we can't connect. I'm assuming my router is blocking him (since it does in other Civ games unless I change the port settings). I can't seem to find any listing of the ports CTP2 is communicating through. Any ideas?
I did see a rumor that there were problems with two people running XP connecting to each other, but I never saw any confirmation that that was anything more than a rumor.
Thanks for your help,
Z

If you both have XP/2K then that is very likely the cause. I play through a router and always connect fine but I do have to reboot to win98 because I can never connect with someone else on XP/2K, even without the router I couldnt.

If I have interpreted the Anet code correctly, all players will start by setting up a connection to UDP port 21157 of the server. This connection will be used to distribute address information to/about the players (using some randomly generated port numbers in the range from 21100 up to - including - 21299).
