Everyone Ok with how things are running? Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

Just thought I should ask now that we have a few turns under our belt. Are folks Ok with the process for inputting to the moves? Am I being too dictatorial on anything?

Is someone else wanting to play the turns? If so, that is fine by me.

Anything else we should be doing that we haven't been?

I will probably make a point of asking this every now and then - just as a team self-diagnostic. Please speak frankly. It is the only way we will be able to improve team dynamics.

One item of note - we will start a separate foreign affairs thread for each civ as we meet them, to keep track of correspondence and discussion on our dealings with them.

I think it's working well. One thing I would request, though, is a formal turn report so that a turn can be replayed. This will come in handy in case any turns need to be replayed (god forbid, but the diplomacy engine if nothing else will bring you down from time to time in PBEM) and also allow turns to be replayed if someone wants to get a hands-on look at the situation.

One thing that has now come up this very turn, though, is circumstances beyond our control. We will not always be able to secure our plans before the turn. And this has just happened with the barbs. In such cases, we may want to hold the save for a short time for discussion.

I suggest the first person able to post a shot of the barb situation next turn should do so. And same goes for further situations like this... first person able to get the save and get on poly updates everyone on the situation so there can be some discussion.

Not from my PoV, though I'm so far not investing myself in this DG as much as I normally do with others, so I frankly wouldn't care as much if you were.

No such wish at the moment. I'd be willing to sub if you need it.

See above, pre-play screenshot/update and holding the turn.

I suggest we also have an additional log thread chronicling all deals signed. That way we'll have an easy reference to remember whether that tech had a NTA, whether we have a deal for tech X, etc. (Either keep it no discussion or edit everything in to the first few posts, to make it easy to read.)

Increase Your PM Length

Another thing I forgot to mention - let's make use of polls. For example, we could have considered the fact we'd been completing pottery a few turns beforehand, and held a poll for the next choice. In that way we definitely could be less dictatorial.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Klo - thanks for the input.

So - what would we be looking at in a turn report. If it is anything like Vondrack use to do for the ISDG, well... you know my answer. I presume you are looking for a list of moves and the order they were made in. I guess I am OK with this. I just want to keep the level of administrative work to a reasonable minimum. I am currently the turn player in 2 other demo games, the stand-by for the MZO game, and have 40+ pbem's on the go.

And I agree on the polls issue. With the small team, I was hoping as folks waded into teh discussion, a consensus would emerge, but a poll is a pretty objective way of leading the discussion.

We will need some for a discsussion on builds, and our next cities.

Mystism is fine with me, but yes, I recomend polling for techs, start them about 5 turns out.

I'll start a tech disccusion thread on a more long term tech basis

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

My first time around on a Demo game...but it's enjoyable thus far. I would say you are very balanced in leadership vs input/consensus... at least no complaints from me.

I like the poll idea. Keeping the discussion to a narrow decision point will help get all the relevant input.

And I'd give it too if it's the answer I'm thinking of. Vondrack put an insane amount of work in to his reports.

Yep, that's all. No need for more info IMO, but that would be good to have during the wait for the next save, and potentially even thereafter.

Edit: And the order they're made in isn't necessary except when there are multiple combats per turn.

I usually make my reports in the order the units come up naturally, but that isn't necessary, and usually requires extra time later on. Just put them in whatever order you like.
