Genre categorizations at Gracenote Support Apolyton

I´m in the process of ripping all my CD´s to mp3. I use Winamp and it takes the tag info from Gracenote. Nice and smooth, but who the **** makes the decisions which genre a certain album is placed in? For example, both Whitesnakes "Live in the heart of the city" and Def Leppards "Hysteria" was apparently "Pop/Hair Metal" I mean wtf? And Tangerine Dream is apparently "Classic Rock". Have these people ever heard TD? Uriah Heep is "Progressive Rock", etc. etc...

I´m to lazy to manually change all the genres to the real ones, but still... It bugs me

I also use WMP. The categorisation is not very good either. But I don't really care: if it gets the artist, the album and the songs right, I'm happy. Is it me or is WMP fast? With my old computer, it took ages to rip a song. Now it's really, really fast, and I'm ripping them at "optimal quality". Maybe it's just the new computer.

I wouldn´t place DL in the same cathegory as say Poison, White Lion and other hair bands. Not the early albums in any case.
