Put an end to popups!

For this turn - the three warriors on the left all move north?

Are folks comfortable with Anna going farther afield, or should she stay around home???

Abel in the south forts and heals - and can monitor if there is any barb activit???

Gunther moves towards the Lost Boys - maybe with the intent of making contact and then circling back south and back along the coast towards our core???

All just suggestions to get the discussion going.

And now to go check what the Lost Boys started with and what we can trade when we meet them.

Tired of ads?

The Lost Boys are Carthage and start with Alphabet and Masonry. This should work out well.

Gamecube - start practicing your negotiation skills.

Continuing north with our warriors (except for Gunther of course) sounds good.

With the barb camp gone, I do feel a little more at ease, though I'm worried about Lost Boy warriors now. Sending her back probably would be safest.

Forts for now, then let's continue exploring with him.

Gunther has gotten pretty far east already. I think we should continue in that direction (heading either north or south so as not to breach LB territory.)

Woohoo!

Let's see... WC and CB or Pottery = Alphabet. Myst for Masonry?

Rename the warrior near Lost Boys to Found Lost Boys.
And have it go due east next turn

Though rename it once he gets past the LB borders, of course.

That's a definite.

And Klo, the barb camp is not gone, only one of the barbs. The camp is still there, with one barb in it, and possibly more depending on their spawning power.

Nice turn. We found neighbours with wines! Now we'll just have to bring the pretzels.

This is about the first time those "maps of the region" are actually useful.

The usual short considerations from your favourite Monster:

  • If you look carefully, you can see the border of the Boys run one tile (but not two!) SW along the dark edge again. This means their capital is probably southward of the city of Assamites, near the wines. The location of their capital may very well be S-SE-SE of Assamites to generate this boundary pattern.
  • The Lost Boys should not be able to see Gunther right now, but they will if he moves straight E. However, we may want to delay contact one turn, to allow Gunther to circle their territory. It's quite important to discover a second civ beyond the first! NE would be a good option then.
  • The Boys seem not to be interested in exploring our way, for now. It's logical they headed towards the middle of the map first.
  • Anna should heal. Now -- is that better in the field, or in the open? Fortifying her is a good option.
  • The middle warrior (near PoAshur) will uncover the river area if he moves N. The warrior N from Inanna can move NE to uncover a bit more and to keep our warrior screen in place.
  • The warrior in the NW better move N to the hill, and then head for the second mountain. Move him after the PoA warrior - if the latter uncovers barbs or neighbours, this warrior can turn E instead to intercept.
  • Alphabet (5) + Masonry (4) = 9. We should try to trade Ceremonial Burial (2), Bronze Working (3) and Warrior Code (3) for this. This is a total of 8, but we can use the argument that it's three techs against two. They can have Mysticism in 9 turns instead of Warrior Code, if they like. It's actually less since some cities will grow.
  • The Boys are Seafaring and Industrious. They will have faster ships, and quicker workers. Their capital is quite probably on or very near the coast.
  • Their city seems to be poorly located. Why did they not build on the hill or the flood plains tile that are adjacent to the river? Or does that river make a turn so they are on it anyway?
edit: they are on the river.

  • The city of ABBA is size two, but we're still #1 in population. Curious. They either got a food source, but did not develop their other cities as well as they've could, or they joined a worker (?!)
  • If you press CTRL-Shift-M, you can see that there is coast south of the wheat tile in the far south, and probably also south of the Silks tile in that region.

We have the save.

One thing that should definitely be done is switch the tiles that Babylon and Inanna's Throne are working with each other. Inanna's Throne can't benefit from the mine at size 1, but Babylon can and can get that bowman out faster.

Turn Played

Citizens switched as per Klo's recommendation.

Abel in the south forts to heal.

Worker roads - completing our road nexus.

Anna moves 9.

Centre warrior from the Plains of Ashur is named Felix - he moves north.

Cain in the west moves north - and spies Morporkian territory.

This gives us a good idea of the land area we can expect to be working with. Rex will be the name of the game.

I am also relieved that we are not adjacent to any of the overtly war-like civs, but that all can change quickly in civ.

Gunther moves NE as per BFM's suggestion. But I do not want to wait too long to meet them. The first civ in gets the good trade deal.

Myst in 6.
