My gift to the Senators of Rome is a new Senate building. The old one was falling apart, and had an odd smell to it, so I decided a new one was needed. Welcome.

MDCCCLXXXIX arrives late for another sleepy afternoon senate session. He has grown comfortable in his routine and hardly ever thinks of his past or how he has risen to such a fine position in the world. Mr. and Mrs. MDCCCLXXXIX have not however and are eager to surprise their son with their first visit to the capitol.

They greet him so to speak with open mouths, mouths that have dropped open in shock or horror. They demand explanations that are not easy to give. They are confused, the mother bursts into tears and worst of all a crowd forms.

“That’s not MDCCCLXXXIX, that’s not our son. That’s MCMXLV, our son’s servant and a slave!” "Gasp" goes the crowd. MCMXLV is unable to continue the masquerade for long. Unlike MDCCCLXXXIX he is wholly illiterate, has horrid breath, an incredibly dull sense of humor, is nearly a full fathom shorter and has strange lesions that he claims are not in fact his but actually belong to a lady friend that he met just last night. When the magistrate arrives the story comes out.

MDCCCLXXXIX was kinda killed by bandits just outside Lake Palmyra when he and his slave set out for Rome so long ago. MCMXLV assumed his masters identity and continued on to Rome rather then return to Lake Palmyra and explain about the strange lesions.

Upon hearing that the sentence for his crimes is to be crucified along Via Apia at dawn, he refuses to explain his use of “kinda” in the previous paragraph.

as anyone here played off an earlier save to see how different things develope?

I was having the vision of a Mac excursion, close to 30 units on station in one area, and they have not blinked yet.

It is a big enough border, I believe if we go about a two prong attack. we could amass two large size forces. have a third in reserve for defending counter attacks.

You are right - many things could have been different in many ways. But hey, we are doing very well now. I fear soon Emperors will be making war just for fun, since the required territory is almost claimed.
