Report 3500 BC - Proposal 3450 BC Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Actions taken in 3500 BC

worker Rhot: finished roading BG
worker McM: moved 478 onto forest
worker Snoop: started roading BG
warrior Rex 3/3: moved 6 onto hill
warrior Dog 2/4: moved 7 onto road, cutting off the DR warrior, who might be eying at AbbA. Standing ground was therefore not an option.

AbbA (2F, 1P, 3C)
6/20 in granary, 40/60 on granary
WF on 3F, 2P, 2C (cow)
WF on 2F, 1P, 3C (ivory)
Total: +3F, +4P, +6s+2g

U2 (2F, 1P, 1C)
16/20 in granary, 16/20 on barracks
WF on 2F, 1P, -C (BG)
Total: +2F, +2P, +1s

Nirvana (2F, 1P, 2C)
12/20 in granary, 6/20 on barracks
WF on 2F, 1P, 1C (RSBG)
Total: +2F, +1P, +2s

Overall: +9s, +2g
wheel @ 80% science finishes in 5 turns.
Treasury @ 10

Remarks

- From the city top 5 it shows that Khan (BOH) has grown to size 2 as well. DR’s capital Inner Sanctum, is still at size 1.
- The DR warrior, as expected, popped the goodie hut, yielding barbs. Miraculously, worker McM has not been attacked by the barbarians. Warrior Dog sustained an attack (maybe 2?) and was honored a promotion to veteran status.
It’s too early to cheer. As we had to secure AbbA, the DR warrior is now in a position to move back towards Nirvana. We will be too late if they do. I propose to await next turn. IF the warrior moves south, there’s an urgent need for diplomacy. I suggest offering the wheel (-1 research credit, RC), which will look like a good prelude to the IW-HBR deal pending (but most probably never happening, as we will acquire IW from BOH). IF the DR warrior continues exploring to the north and/ or east, there’s no need to talk. Next turn will also be the time to decide whether we finish the barracks in U2 or change to an archer.
- We slipped on productivity to the 5th place (26). GNP 5th (13), Mfg 4th (7), approval rating 4th (62%). We’ll have our growth and benefits when we have the granary up in 3 turns.
- The north shore seems to have been spotted when worker McM moved onto the forest.

Proposal for actions in 3450 BC

worker Rhot: move 3 to BG, as moving 6 to the FP might bring Rhot in a vulnerable position.
worker McM: start chopping forest
worker Snoop: start roading mined RSBG (riverside bonus grass)
warrior Rex: move 2 continuing exploring SE
warrior Dog: most likely DR warrior moves 2, in which case we move 422. Otherwise move into

Diplomacy: None, wait 1 more turn.

Agreed with the orders. Have we talked with BoH yet about the hut we found and splitting the proceeds?

As to not losing worker McM, I can only guess that the barbs popped out to the south and east.

Agree to the orders
One would think that no attack from DR would come with such a small city for support or lack of units.

If it comes to diplomacy, to early for MPP?

How does one split barbarians?

If BoH pops the hut that warrior Rex found then they will not get barbarians as they are the Mongols, an expansionist civ.

Hmm, just thinking about something...if we're going to be starting a chop next turn toward the granary we're going to be losing most of those shields. We get the 10 shields at the end of turn 3 (because of how PBEM works), but with only 4 turns to finish the granary then almost all those shields (and worker turns) are wasted.

Instead I would recommend holding the worker there for a turn and then starting the chop to give the shields to the next build. While we're at it we force the workforce into taking one more turn to grow than build the granary (by moving off the cow to the bonus grass we will get when our city radius increases next turn). This should last for about two turns, just long enough to force the granary before the city growth.

EDIT: Nevermind, I forgot about our industrious trait. However...when AbbA's culture does grow, the workforce will automatically re-allocate from the ivory to the bonus grass we just mined. I suggest we send it back to the ivory. We will lose 4 shields to waste the turn we finish the chop and granary if we leave it on the BG. We will only lose three shields to waste and pick up a commerce point if we move it back to the ivory.

Agreed. And yes, we agreed with BOH to split the proceeds from the goodie hut.

Suffering from ads?

I'll talk to Moonbars/Aqualung and see if we can make sure they're not threatening anywhere with their warrior.

Tired of ads?

I'm not sure that DR might not be threatening us indeed. I had a short conversation with Aqualung, shortly posted in the DR thread, yesterday that mostly went "Haha, we popped some barbarians on your A$$" ... "Um, yeh, whatever" ... "So we have this dilemna ..." ... "Um, Yes?" ... "So, your worker's like dead, right?" ... "Um, I'm not sure, didn't pay attention" ... "Yeah, right, like you don't know ... " ... "Um, so do you have any questions for me?" ... "I guess not" ...

("Um" preceding all of my comments there, for ease of reading.)

Anyway, the extension they asked for makes me curious if they're considering attacking us. They could, of course, and have a 60-40 chance of winning or so... and then be able to conquer our capital with no opposition. And i'm sure they can see that clear as day.

Crap. We might regret not having the extra units after all. We'll see what happens I guess.

Well if that happens we might have a decent chance at getting a certain red wrecking crew on our side in ... damaging ... them for it ...

Call me an alarmist, but the discussion in the save game discussion thread is revolving around DR needing to "discuss" something.

quote:
we are and have been doing this. What I am saying is that sometimes there is *very* limited time available for *any* of our team to look at the save before it gets sent on, and if something *unplanned* turns up, it's stupid to force the game to go on before we have a chance to at least let all our members know what is going on.

You cannot possibly discuss *all* possibilities in advance. sometimes u get a random happening.

To me that indicates that they are trying to decide whether or not to attack our wounded warrior. I guess we'll find out when the save comes around.

I was thinking around the same lines...
Had a bit of a chat with Aqua, but that didn't reveil much. He said something as that they were pretty much predictable. In which case I presume they will head for Nirvana. However they might just as well head for an exploratory tour.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I have received and opened the save. DR has indeed played as expected. They're moving back towards Nirvana and we will be too late if they move into our territoy (1 or 2) on next turn. We'll even be too late if they first move onto the hill (3), from which they'll be able to see the .

The following issues are urgent:
1. What do we do considering the DR warrior?
I'd say we still hold our breath. Aqua claims that we're trading partners. Sofar our semi deal with DR seems to be as much as we have to get out of this nasty situation. If we need to go "emergency" next turn, I'd say we offer them the wheel for Nirvana.

2. What do we do considering the build in U2, granary or archer?
I'd say we pursue the barracks. Nirvana can't be saved with a warrior. It makes more sense to get stronger archers to punch back. We might even get lucky and take no hit. When the road is build in 2 turns we will be able to move fast enough.

A reminder:
Like Rhot mentioned, the WF switched to mined RSBG and should be moved back to the ivory.

I'm off to bed. I have made my points and am happy to accept any of your decissions. Go ahead, discuss, play and send it on....

Hold our breath regarding the DR warrior. Like you said, there is nothing we can do about it at the moment. We just have to hope that since they didn't attack us this past turn that they won't in the immediate future.

As to U2, build an archer. We need more military units or we'll have more scares like this. In PBEMs and demogames it is my preference to have more military than the other guy (i.e. be strong to everyone else if possible).
