Certainly the United States — home of the Whopper and the Super Big Gulp — remains a nation of scale-busters, with two of every three Americans overweight.
But there are a dozen places even worse:
South Pacific islands like Tonga, Kosrae and Nauru, where traditional meals of reef fish and taro are replaced by cheap instant noodles and deep-fried turkey tails.
Greece, birthplace of the Olympic Games, where the Mediterranean diet is as much a relic as the Parthenon.
Oil-soaked Kuwait where Mercedes-driving mothers draped in black burqas feed french fries to their children while shopping for $375 giraffe-leather Italian loafers.
China's burgeoning waistlines
Soon China will be the world’s biggest country in more ways than sheer population, experts predict.

But, that won't stop people like Stefu talking about America, they just love America too much.
Europe's fat:

My BMI is less than 25 , but ironically I have had fat people tell me I need to put on, not muscle, but weight.

Pyrodrew, well it's a simple thing. When you see other parts of the world, it becomes trivial, even beyond ultimate researches. Which by the way changes every other day. Finland used to be the fattest country after the US every other day, and according to UK it used to be the most fittest country the other day.
They change so much, that I don't trust them anymore, the fat researches. But I do trust my eye, and US is fattie boombastic bar none, that's just a fact. Sure Europe is fat right next to the US, but there's a market we do not dominate now or in the near future . To bring statistics to show otherwise on a day, well .. you know it just goes beyond common sense. And I'm not saying it's evil, I'm just saying that's how it is, has been for a long time and will continue to be. Doesn't mean average American is in worse shape than average European. There's no indications to that at all.

I've heard the same thing when people visit a few American or European cities and say they know how the average American/European acts now (and get different opinions). I'm not going to try to change your mind, but also 1 person's eye-witness research in a few cities to judge over 300million people is hardly anything I take as a smoking gun. At the same time I don't disregard your testimony, America's weight problem or any valid research.

Some probably differ because studies can use different indicators, methodologies and sampling techniques, not to mention the temporal differences. So, I agree to take research with a grain of salt, especially if those funding/doing a study have a huge interest to skew the results. MensHealth based the 'fattest' city on a number of factors, including the quantity of fast food restaurants within a given area. Personally, I've never had any problem finding attractive thin/slim women & if they are hard to find for other guys then all the better for me.
