Yes horses do upgrade, but to what? To a rather weak unique unit (and I'm being reserved here) which I think we should avoid altogether. My long term plan for the next era is: Feudalism, Engineering, Invention, Gunpowder, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Military Tradition, STOP!

My plan doesn't include chivalry.

Another reason against horses is that we want to build chariots first and then upgrade to horses if we want to use them at all.

But OK, horses seem to be winning, so we might as well use them to kill our enemies.

I have to disagree with you on this Ljube, the Keshik is a not so bad UU. OK its true its defence is poor but they are very strong against cavalry so even if an oponent gets cavalry before us then hasving keshiks is a good thing.

We have to think about the here and now not the end of era 2.

There is no reason not to bag chivalry especially as our early ally will make good use of that tech also, so as were researching together its not going to kill us to go for. The Knights Templar is a nice little wonder to have, even if we dont use the troops it generates for battle theyre good for building forts all over the shop.

Keshiks are superb in mountains !! and if used right can devastate an oponent, you just need to make sure you take good defensive units along too when invading.

Even without a Chivalry UU I would beeline for knights in a game like this where its very likely to be War War War and then some more War with 6 teams all very tightly packed into a small space.

OK Chris, however in spite of my undying love for Snoopy and his bunch I fear they may hit us hard once they get chivalry. Their UU is probably the best in the era, so I advise caution. When we get there, I suggest we start engineering and tell them to research feudalism, then we move to invention and tell them to get monotheism and finally we research gunpowder when they get chivalry. It's safer that way.
