Generally, "take charge" means that you should be making decisions when you are at a crossroads. So, if she asks "What shall we do tonight, Brain?", you should be ready to say "Same thing we do every night, Pinkie. Try to take over the world." instead of "I don't know, honey. What do you want to do." If you know the question is coming, you can pre-empt it with an answer.
"Take charge" does not mean you should be giving her orders out of the blue. Don't tell her to get you a beer, or a pillow, or whatever. That's dominant-submissive, not active-passive. She probably wants active-passive.
