The problem is, with so much text it is in the updates in this session, I have even more problems finding them. I am bad with the usual lenght and hopeless with so much. I'm afraid I need shorter installements, no offence snoopy.

I suspect that means that Ben Kenobi is going to kill Jon Miller next round.......but that is just a suspicion

Well played Ben, quiet and in the background, allows a mafia to live longer I guess.

There's obviously a reason why he's decided to only participate in this FG.

Looking like yes at this point. There's a motion to make avatar cost extremely low that has passed Parliament. And it has support among at least some admins.

Max number of aardmarks per post is 75, and they'd cost 1k. So posting one round of a gallery contest would probably get you halfway there.

Until that motion passes, though, they'll be 15k, which is difficult to round up without significant spamming, or winning a lotto, or winning a Mafia game or something.

Clues for Ben Kenobi/John Irving:
(Round by Round clues)
In round 1: (Tom Clancy)
"Yeah, exactly how I feel," said John. "I mean, yes, I did write Widow For One Year, but that's not the same. At least my main characters were alive."
(minor clue)
"I agree," said John. "Way too many of your sci-fi guys. I could barely get to the bathroom - had to forgo that second diet coke."
(in the right place)

In round 3: (George Carlin)
"The hand looked like an easy small slam for west, but after careful study, Neil noticed something from the south that everyone else missed. Each of the last three hands had been cut and dried; but this one was a bit more complicated. "
(Red herring - this one was NOT complicated. Neil is also foreshadowing his own death, which is appropriate to his writing style.)
“I… I think … I don’t know. I didn’t see him very well … I think it was a him … yeah, pretty sure,” said Dave. “But I know it must have been either Tom or John … the door didn’t open, I’m sure.”
John was in the room, and ... sure enough, was the killer. Trust Dave.

In round 5: (Neil Gaiman)
“Bill, where are you headed?” asked John.
(Minor clue - trying to keep track of where people are so he can slip off unnoticed)

“Hmm. Well, I think I’m going to take a walk over to the international pavilion,” said John Irving. “The international pavilion looks pretty cool, and I so rarely get to travel out of the country anymore…”
“It does sound pretty cool. That’s over by the south entrance, right?” said Erik.
“Well, a bit away from the main entrance. Near the east side of the building, thereabouts,” responded John.
(MAJOR clue. He is heading east... which is accurate ... towards the international pavilion, which is not. East is also the direction of the lake ... but Jonny's not paying attention )

In round 6: (Hercules is killed in round 5) (Alice)
“Yeah… and I’m quite positive that the Congolese government could do more to protect the lions, also. They’re an important part of the history of the region…” said John.
(MAJOR clue - he didn't watch the film. Tsavo is in Kenya, not in Congo. I thought about having Paul point that out, but thought that would be too obvious.)

All of the characters in the game were close enough to kill Alice - the 146 bus connects museum campus (the field museum) with downtown (the shopping) and Wrigley Field (and a bit further north at that).

However, pay attention to the cubs scores. The murder happened *after* the start of the game, and yet all of the people were there at the Cubs game by (or around) the start. The Sedaris clue was a red herring, and anyway he was there close enough to the start of the game. Thus, none of the people at the cub's game could have committed the murder.

The timing of the Field Museum trip is a bit more complicated - and the clue above is not when he kills her. Which is in some way a red herring of a red herring, but he is planning to leave, and getting ready for his bus trip, which takes about 15-20 minutes each way, checking bus schedules and whatnot. However, he had plenty of time while everyone else was going around the Field Museum to do so.

Of course, Joyce could have killed her also - anything's possible. But the next murder should prove otherwise ...

I really expected round 6 to be the end, if any, and tried to make it so. After that, I had to tone down the clues a little bit - anyone reading the clues here, even just the Cubs game clue, would have had a small pool of possible Mafiosos... and Ben was kind enough to eliminate even one of those immediately afterwards ...

Jonny's clues were incorrect; the first clue was appropriate to Ann Rule's murder of David McCullough, not to a John Irving murder; and the second was a red herring.

In Round 7: (Joyce)
“Yeah … got the killer, good thing,” said John, sipping a Tom Collins. “That Ann, crazy b#$%^ she was. And Elmore … weirdo. Total nut. Good riddance, I say.”
(John is getting drunk here, and ... starting to show his murderous side here.)

Joyce walked back to Michigan avenue, to hail a cab.
(and then)
they find her body strewn in an alley off Superior between Michigan and Rush.
(This is where she dies, obviously. She's walking back - towards where the other group transits from Bandera's to Pippen's.)

Also, check the position of these restaurants. It was intended to show you that she was murdered by one of those five... was rather surprised to find that Jonny hadn't done a number on this one, similarly to how he noticed my error - an honest mistake, actually, not intentional - in round four, catching Ann.

Round 8 (Joseph Ellis):
There wasn't a whole lot here, but John had plenty of opportunity at this point - particularly when Dave went to get a hot-dog, as he stood in line. Or, he could have stepped aside for a second while they waited at the exhibit, which is what I was thinking.

Round 9 (Bill Bryson):
Red herring was Dave getting up a few minutes AFTER John Irving. The real clue was what he was drinking ...

... a Coke. Remember that he drank a diet coke in round 1?

Round 10 (Dave Barry)
... And John's reign of terror over Random House authors is complete. The clue here again is the soda - Cherry Coke. Can I be more obvious ...

Another clue was intended to be the split up of the authors. David Sedaris chose John Irving over Dave Barry, because he felt Dave Barry would be murdered, and therefore John was either the murderer - in which case Hunter is framed very easily, and John must support David's alibi - or Hunter is the murderer; but either way, Hunter must be voted for by both David and John (in character anyway).

But i didn't put much in the way of clues in this one, because it was not going to be clues that determined this one, but if Nikolai and Jon could get together or not ...

Make sense? Also, as a general clue, John Irving was a wrestler in high school - and physically killed all of his victims. Not a major one, but it was out there.

--

The motives-
John Irving hated how egotistical most of the other authors were, and also was upset that his books were getting less and less popular. He thought he would either kill off some of his competition and make the survivors more famous (ie himself), or at worst, he'd be killed, and his books would become more famous than ever.

Ann Rule, as stated before, was trying to set up a true-crime scenario, as she was suffering from writer's block, and wanted to write a story about her own murders (although she was hoping to get away with it ..)
