Army Builds/Elites Obsolete? Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Quick question: once you can build armies, do elites lose the ability to generate leaders? [In my current game, my Germans generated 6 leaders from elites (FP+5 armies), but since I started building armies, numerous elite victories have generated no further leaders.]

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

It is totally random. However, you can only have one leader at a time. So turn him into an army ASAP, unless you wish to save him for palace move or something. I believe the military academy has no effect on occurrence of MGL's.

Also, heroic epic increases the chances of creating MGL's, as does the militaristic trait, but I quess germans are allready militaristic...

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Not sure if this is what you meant, but the Militaristic trait does not directly affect your MGL generation, it only increases the odds of your units being promoted up until and including Elites.

Tired of ads?

No being able to generate armies from the MA will not stop elites from creating MGL's. I do it all the time. Just do not have an MGL around, that will stop it for sure.

Tatilla: Germans? Militaristic? Nahhhh...

vmxa1: Thanks for saying you see it often. I guess I've just had one of those runs where 1-in-12 doesn't come up for 100 victories or so; statistically normal but it looks odd at the time. [Embarrassing: I just lost an elite cav to a veteran Immortal...and the little bugger must *be* immortal to still be around after 1000 years!]

That's not true, Military civs have a better chance of having a Leader appear than the others. They start the game with the same odds that the other civs do after they build the Heroic Epic.

Nope... the odds of MGL generation are the same for all. MIL civs have higher odds for promotion, that's all. That said, in practice it helps anyway, as having more elites is a good thing.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

It is sort of a case of symantic to me. It is true that being mil civ does not alter the chances of an mgl directly. Since it does increase the odds on a promotion, it does indirectly improve your chances of an MGL.

So if that is confusing, T is correct strictly speaking.

Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

Yes, and I would further add the UUs of MIL civs contribute to the cause as well, generally being extra hardy little b*stards. Legions and Samurai come to mind.
