So There's This Drought Going On ... Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Everyone:

... and there's a massive winter storm forecasted to hit our area. This storm would bring with it heavy, wet snow, not the light, feathery stuff. It would go a ways toward replenishing the water levels, even though it's in the frozen form for the timebeing.

And what do I hear from some of my colleagues?!

"Oh, I don't want this storm to hit!"

"Damn, now it's going to be hard to get around."

Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Well, the idiots got their wish. The damn storm veered away from our area *entirely* — we didn't get a single flake of snow. Not one!

All I can do is shake my head. These damn fools didn't want the snow because it would inconvience *them.* Never mind the fact that, looking beyond the tip of one's own nose, you'd think they'd realize that the moisture — frozen or not — would have been a godsend for the area.

Y'know what really gets my goat? These are the same folks who, two months from now, will be pissing and moaning about why it's so dry out and "Where did all the moisture go?!" They'll also "feel sorry" for the farmers. Damn fools! You're the idiots who didn't want the moisture when we had a huge shot at getting it, all because it would've inconvienced you! God, their shortsightedness just infuriates me sometimes.

P.S. Since October 2004, we've had slightly more than 10 inches of snow. That's *way* below normal — we usually average around 24 inches through the end of March.

On the other hand, wishing the snow wouldn't hit had no effect on the actual path of the storm.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

Of course not, but it's annoying that folks who should know better wished for the storm to miss. I'd glady take a week or so of mucking around in a foot of snow if, in exchange, it added an inch of precious moisture into the ground once it melted.

A large snow pack is not a good thing when you live near the Red River.

Logan? As in Logan, Colo.? If so, it was probably the same storm system.

What kind of moron doesn't realize that too much humidity is a bad thing, as well? We're well ahead of pace for snowfall here where I am - living off of the Great Lakes that never froze over this winter, and so they have then been able to dump huge amounts of precipitation on us. Melting floods are a bad thing....

The only reason I can see for wanting it to be humid is a concern for the eco-system. Comfort wise, dry is always better (well, as long as it isn't desert dry).
