New Games Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

I just bought a new computer and I would like to know what the new games are that I have missed.

It's brand new computer with good components, so I am able to run all games perfectly. I wasn't able to do that with my old computer.

New games are at least Doom 3, Half Life 2, Brothers in Arms. What else?

I have a bit of an older type of puter myself so I don't know, but I heard Farcry is a good game that requires some balls, so maybe you could try that one out.

I don't know if your old computer could handle these games, as they aren't exactly cutting edge, but I would recommend Warcraft III Battlechest for a great story based RTS.

Sims 2 is also worth buying if you liked the original.

If you are a RTS connoisseur, then Rise of Nations is worth the price of admission too.

Should probably point out this contains both Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne.

Given that you've chosen shooty games in the list (of 3) you gave above, then you may not want to pay much attention to this (or to any of the other posts either ):

NWN is w00tly!
Civ 2.
Apart from Baldur's Gate I (another RPG), I haven't played anything else in ages.

Hearts of Iron II is a nice one, but that's a TBS, not a shooter...

But about Doom3, well, let me tell you: Doom III = teh suck. Don't buy it.

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

I recco NWN because maxed out it still makes newer RPGs look fugly. Also Rome: Total War, because its LOVELY on huge unit sizes with wind and grass turned on.

Are you mad?

Don't get me wrong, NWN is a great game, and for its time was very pretty with high detail, but it's not that great looking by today's standards.

I am not mad, but looking at the screenshots posted in the NWN thread compared with those in the "EQ2 vs WoW Deathmatch" thread, its pretty clear what looks the best. WoW is cartoony EQ2 is simply ugly. Ok, KOTOR1+2 look a bit "better" than NWN, but they are also very unrealistic environments - like the SW films everything is airbrushed clean.

Ok, that Vampire game looks better than NWN, but most RPGs released since NWN are not so hot graphically.

And what do you mean "for its time" ? HotU was released just over a year ago, and Bioware released a patch with new content (not just fixes) early this year.

Put an end to popups!

KOTOR1 and 2 = sweet.

I have to say i'd rather see Morrowind than NWN, gameplay aside ... but i have a soft spot for that sort of scenery I think. Don't doubt that most people would prefer NWN's graphix.

OTOH, it's not really appropriate to compare the graphics of a SPRPG like NWN to a MMORPG. You just can't do quite as nice of graphics on a MMORPG, except in cutscenes - too much detail is lost with the small packet sends required to make the characters really act real. If EQ2 looked significantly better than NWN, i'd say that's a ... dratting ... statement about NWN. (Not sure if the word I originally used there is kosher or not for this forum?)
