After you soak the beans, discard the water. The oligosaccarides - complex sugars you cannot digest - are at least reduced. The bacteria in your gut fermenting those babies is why you get gas. Supposedly, if you eat beans often you get less gas.

Beans were dried not canned and the rice was white rice (from Thailand I believe). The white rice cooked in about 30 minutes in the rice cooker but I had to first soak the beans over night then boil them for several hours in order to make then tender enough. Once that was done I drained the water, mashed about half of the beans, mixed in the rice, tossed in Tabasco, chicken bullion, chili powder, brown gravy mix (to thicken things), black pepper, butter, minced garlic, and a bit of salt. Mix really well and ready to serve. Really simple to prepare plus its dirt cheap & nutritious
