Ok, so some plans have changed lately
Basically we are on a war footing, and the pigs will be going down
Workers are busy getting the road to iron, as well as horses connected
Warriors are returning from hut popping missions
and warriors are now scouting Porkers borders...
we do know that one of their warriors is south to east of our towns...
General Bongo has had serious input here.
He is gathering troops, training lads, and organising battle plans.
We have many turns before we have war... but we are committed to destroying the pigs
as to the iron, the settler from Ta-Tu is 3 turns away, and will be there soon. It must be noted that upgrading our warriors to swordsmen is a great idea, yet we do not have such funds at this time.
Warrior 10 gold each
Swordsmen 30 gold each
Upgrade Warrior to Swordsman 60 gold each
at this time we have 86 gold...
if we turned all tech research off we can add 20 gold per turn, yet this can not really start for another 6 turns. For that is when we have Philosophy completed, and have hopefully recieved our free tech. Thus well worth the wait...
we do know that the porkers are weak militarily, and with one warrior out our way, their defenses can not be all that good

Gee, I think someone forgot to tell us that the Pigs aren't being played by the AI.

I agree with Ljube,
Strike to kill, Since this isn't an AI player striking them hard, and then letting them go, will severley demoralize their team to the point that they might bail, or just slow up the game. If we are going to attack take them completely out of the game.
I also agree that horses are not a usefull tool at this juncture in the game. If your going to build anything that expensive, build Swords.

If we are going to attack with swords instead of warriors, then we must produce settlers now. I realize that this seems totally counterintuitive, but since we will not have even the capacity to build swordsmen for 4-6 turns and then we must either have been building something else or we must begin swords from scratch (one or the other...we can switch) we will need more troops to take down the pigs.
Recently our F3 advisor had stated that the strongest unit they had that we knew about was a worker. If this is the case, warriors will win the day. If we wait and go in cautiously, we will need about a 2:1 superiority in troops...that translates loosely to a 2:1 superiority in cities.
I believe we need a closer investigation of their cities, then we can decide if warriors will suffice, if they will not suffice, then we should produce 3 or 4 more cities and then when all 7 or 8 are cranking out swords...we attack from that point of strength.
Assuming that we can build swords in a short time to overcome an unknown threat is not a sound policy if we don't have the cash for upgrades. 30 shields is a very, very long production queue.
