quote: Italian wins in court after husband's 'sex strike'
Court awards damages, says 7-year campaign was unfair
Updated: 10:45 a.m. ET March 25, 2005ROME - An Italian woman whose angry husband refused for 7 years to have sex with her was awarded divorce damages by Italy's high court this week.

Francesco launched his "sex strike" in the early 1990s to punish his wife, Piera, for taking sides against him in a family dispute over money, according to details of the case reported by local media.
They bitterly separated in 2000 and Francesco, still convinced that she was responsible for the broken marriage, refused to make support payments demanded by Italian courts and repeatedly appealed against them.
But the highest court ruled that Francesco's sexual punishment did not fit the crime, and doomed Piera to perpetual frustration.
"The refusal of affection or sexual attention must constitute the blame for the separation," the court ruled.
For Piera, "satisfaction in life (was) impossible ... along with fulfillment of marriage in its deepest sense." Beyond support payments, Francesco must pay court costs of several thousand euros.

Seven years is just a bit much in my modest opinion. I'm thinkin' more like a couple of months, maybe. I mean, they couldn't have really been happy all that time if he was actually refusing to do the deed. So, how long?

Kirnwaffen, true, that means there were some serious problems if someone could hold out for so long just because.
So it makes me think, that the sex part wasn't the real problem, just a side product of it all.
I don't believe in divorces. I mean, if there is no abuse in the relationship, I dont believe in divorce. Simple as that. You are pledging to be together forever until death aparts you. How can you pledge, and not keep your words? I don't understand that. I know a lot of people understands it and don't understand my position on it, but I guess I'm not like most when it comes to some things. You pledge that you are together for the better and for the worse. So there were some bad times. But the idea was to work it out, and if both want to work it out, it works out. But if the other one is a traitor like that, then it's for the worse for the rest of their lives. Too bad. I guess they married the wrong person. That's why I also don't believe true love exists, and I do believe marriage is built on love, trust and respect. It's a bit complicated, yet very simple. That's why I would not marry a girl if we knew each other for a year and she was really pretty and rich too and pledging alliance to me, because I don't trust another persons pledging. One pledges one day and another day that pledge is taken apart. That's not how it works in my mind. I'm not getting married ever and be alone forever? So be it. I get married and it works out? Even better. But I'm not pledging anything, until I'm rock solid 100% sure. And I don't trust anyone.
