Sorry, my literacy level are appaling.

Anyway if they think that their parents get 20000$ (good enough for palestine) for their suicide attack they are more likely to do so. And if they know that they kill their parents and brothers they will not perform suicide attack. Key point of my plan. In fact Border'67 is acceptable if this part is OK. Since they're punished not for the act of murder ( If they were, we'd see life sentences ) but for supporting it morally, I don't see how they're being punished for the actions of other if they were, say, awarded a trip for 2 years of recreation and hard labor.

Ok, so Shas voted AGAINST the referendum. This despite the presumption that Likud pulled votes from Shas in the last election, and so a new election with a divided Likud should be GOOD for Shas. Of course Shas is buyable, but shouldnt even the corrupt be rational? Why shouldnt they expect to be able to pull off even a better budget deal after an election? Are there schools, etc so close to bankruptcy they cant chance even a few months without subsidies? Are they afraid Sharon will pull a rabbit out of his hat (do a magic trick, for those unfamiliar with US idiom) and govern without them, even with Likud divided? Or do they think a post election govt could dispense with them?

Its not quite the same thing - Shas wanted the shekels for institutions it controls - its not like Shinui runs Israeli universities. And Shinui supported disengagement anyway - its more something to offset Shinuis discomfort with the bribes to Shas.

I think people who threadjack from the details of current Israeli politics to the general morality of collective punishment should be beaten with sticks - but only the threadjackers should be, their relatives should be left alone - hell, the relatives have probably suffered enough already
