2950 Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

  • Curragh continues near northern pole to scout continent there
  • Our Warrior survived barbarian attack, now is veteran. Either go further north or west. I would go north.
  • Relocated a warrior to Transylvania, which grows next turn.
  • Workers, the most northern, I think of moving next turn SE,S to help complete that "highway". The rest pretty knows what to do. We clear forest for future irrigation there, but now I would do mine on grasslands, till we can actually have 3 food from them. Tzimisce needs grasslands.
  • Goody hut is disaster, 3 Crimmean warriors. Our unit has some chance of survival maybe...
  • What research next?
  • We got Writing. I think we can offer it to DR and Babylon, as Euphorica unfortunately has it. Our chances to get Philosophy first are now slim in my oppinion, so how about getting Great Library?
  • Back to 100% research. -1 gold/turn. +18 gold for research.

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

Move the western warrior north.

What are our research options at this point? I would take something CHEAP, as most player seem to trade techs 1 for 1 if they are comparable value. Also, are there any techs we *need* right now?

We should avoid the Great Library. Three Reasons:

1) By the time we get it, there will be little tech left for us to receive for free.
2) It expires too quickly (and there are better Wonders that last much longer and give better overall results).
3) Diplomaticly, it will cause us to be isolated and hated by all of our neighbors as we "steal" their tech.

Even 2 or 3 techs are still worth it. Better than Philosphy, which gives only 1. And a big advantage of Great Library is also culture points. It brings us higher in the graph in this regard. Very good is security since there is less probability for cultural flip of some more away cities, and flip of other cities to us is also more probable.

Would others really think that way? We pay the price of building it. It is a regular game benefit as any other Wonder gives. And if they call it stealing, a proper diplomacy and also sharing some of those techs with others might even bring better diplomatic relations. It brings respect too, I think. They may "hate" us that we want to win but we still play so that we can win.

Anyway the majority should decide here. I only wish more members post their oppinions on all things regarding our civ.

Then maybe Pyramids are good. Free granary in every city, that is something quite beneficial

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Yes, the Great Library is a good way to paint a great big target over yourself in any multiplayer game. While it does have its rewards, but they are usually outweighed by the sudden loss of dealing with other players. No one will want to trade with us, and some would even make a concerted effort to capture it. I'd avoid it at most costs.

Seems like I will be overvoted anyway. Just avoiding the risks may ensure our existence, but we may be too predictible for others. As for dealing with a civ that builds Great Library, I would on the other hand try to use it by negotiating some additional deals for that very reason. I would not avoid trading with such civ. And what if we are the civ trying to capture it? After getting it we would be exactly in the situation of being in danger that others want to capture it, minus the bonus of culture points we would not get.

I will contact Euphorica re Philosophy and try to determine what they research. This is proposed message:
quote:

To Euphorica,

We have noticed that you already posses advance of Writing. We presently cannot offer you any other advance for trade.
There is also another issue we would like to inquire you. Do you research at the moment Philosophy? This question is important for us regarding choice of our next advance for research.

Thanking in advance,
Lost Boys

Any comments, changes?

Got spare money?

We have got this reply from Euphorica:
quote:
We do not at the present research philosophy. Were you to successfully
research philosophy and its related bonus tech, we'd be mighty
appreciative and of course willing to trade ... especially if you picked
say construction
snoopy369

Thus Philosophy is our choice and in 2900 BC will be ready in 8 turns. The next turn report shortly
