Don't tell me you've never wondered! We're spending millions of dollars to keep the stupid things alive, despite the fact that they are the most certifiably boring animals in nature. A primitively motorized plush animal would provide the same level of fun.

And don't give me that ecological niche nonsense. All they do is munch bamboo, which is a weed but controllable by other means, and if they had any predators those predators are sure to be dead by now. If it were a matter of ecological importance, there are less cute, more mobile, and more important animals to save, and furthermore those animals probably will not need decades to knock each other up successfully.

With this in mind, I propose an immediate taste-test to determine what panda meat tastes like, and which condiments, if any, it goes well with. Don't get me wrong, we can still save the pandas, it's just that we'll have far more incentive to do so if they taste yummy.

Don't forget that pandas are both mean and stupid as hell. Unfortunately, I bet they also taste like crap. Pandas are pretty worthless IMO.

Are you kidding me? The animals do nothing but sit around and eat all day. Look at how fat they are! They're probably similar to force-fed goose in terms of richness. It's just a matter of how good a flavor they have.

Any animal, when it has aged to its mid-eighties, is not going to be delectable. And considering that Pope only becomes available once every few decades, and there's only one at a time, the price would be prohibitively expensive. That would never make it as a delicacy. They don't even breed, for crying out loud...

And we sometimes look out for animals that are not at all cute, merely cool or fun. Who wouldn't want to protect a rare species of Praying Mantis? They're so neat.

On the contrary, bear is quite tender with a pronounced gamey taste. Tastes a bit like moose or deer. Not bad according to a friend of mine. And since panda is just a fancy bear, I reckon itīll taste something like that, but with a hint of bamboo

It's tough to discribe... Take a beef stick from Hickory Farms, let it sit for a while, give it more of a bite (pepper like) with an after taste of blanness = gamey.

Dagnabit, it's NEWS when these things succeed in having sex! Not even carrying the little panda to term, that's even bigger news, or getting a panda to live to maturity, which has never even been done in this frigging country AFAIK, but just getting them to have sex.

Your average drunken prostitute is funnier than a panda, takes far less cash to support, will eat bamboo gladly if you give her enough blow, and can almost always have sex and get it in the right hole. And we aren't dependent on China for those either. Whether you choose to attribute speciation to God or evolution, either one is clearly against these pandas.
