Anyone else uncomfortable watching nude/sex scenes in movies when their parents are watching with them?

Yes I know. I'm a product of repressive america. Perhaps this is why I'm so perverted. Though that doesn't explain why you European posters are so perverted. So maybe repression doesn't cause perversion.

Nothing worse than seeing 2 people gettin' it on when your mother is watching a movie with you. I'm not talking about adult movies. I'm talking about your usual Rated R movies.

Yes it is true, we americans are more comfortable seeing heads blown off (not in the sexual way), and dismemberments than seeing sex in movies. This is why we have a culture of violence I was talking about earlier.

I read an article about the decline of rated R movies in the U.S. They say people are uncomfortable seeing sex scenes with other people around them (as in a movie theater). And this is why porn is so popular. As people can view that in the privacy of their own home alone, or with their lover(s).

Yes, this is why american society is ****ed up. Me along with it. But who wants to get a hardon with their mother in the room?

I took my mom to see Scent of a Woman when it was in the theaters. She was scared that it was a "sex" movie. Afterwards, she told all her friends to go see, and they had the same reaction; don't go with the kids.

Although that brings in a whole new issue. What do you do if your mother is some actress who does a lot of sex scenes in movies? I guess you just don't see any of her movies.

yeah, scent of a woman was false advertising.

I actually seen this movie with my friend. That's another thing. it can be weird watching romance movies with a "guy" friend. when my friend and I watched "Untamed Heart" we kept the vacant seat in between us to signify we weren't gay.

Diss, this one doesn't have much to do with repressive or anything else. It's only natural, that you don't want to watch sexual scenes with your parents. I mean, that you get a bit uncomfortable.

I couldn't watch pornos with my dad either. It just seems strange.

Actually I've never gotten into watching pornos as a group. But guys did it all the time in the Navy. I never understood that. I don't want to get a hardon in the middle of a group of guys. Yes it's against the rules to watch pornos on a Navy ship, but everyone does it. Just make sure the office door has a lock on it.

Porno is a solo activity for me

Feeling awkward seems to be a natural reaction. I think it has something to do with the whole incest thing, seeing reproduction (or something closely related to it) and your parents in the same time in the same room. Humans haven't been with TVs even a hundred years yet.

I don't feel uncomfortable at all. Mind you, I grew up in a very open family where the subject of sex was never repressed or forbidden. I was taught about the birds and the bees at a very early age.

That... and our house has always been very poorly soundproofed (although mostly my parents were good enough to play loud music).

Nudity is not nearly as problematic as violence. I'd rather my children watch nudity on tv than the three stooges.... because I'd rather have them ask me embarassing questions than knock me over the head with something to see if it makes a funny sound.

The US (and a large part of the world) is very strange these days. Violence and gore are fine, particularly on news programmes. Things like explosions, weapons firings, and dead bodies are frequently aired. On the other hand, sex, intimacy and nudity are tabboo.

The thing is, violence is bad. It's about hate, destruction, general nastiness.

What gives?

UR, yeah but it's logical. I mean, sex is supposed to be a private matter and when you see people having sex on TV, I mean what's up with that? It's most likely unmarried people, doing the no no. Filming their private moment for everyoen to watch, and everyone is guilty, audience and the ones having sex. You tell me, what problems does this solve, or what problems does this address. Basically, what good does it do?

Now killing on the other hand, you have to admit it, that sometimes you can solve the problem by killing a bunch of people, or a person. This is the way the world works, with sex, you can't solve problems, killing, hell yeah.

So it's only natural, to show working methodologies, and not useless crap like nude bodies. No one benefits from that.
