She got her degree in environmental science a couple of years ago
and had only found jobs as a secretary since (she is like 24 or so)
she would like to be doing something better/more interesting
so what are some jobs that she could do?
where should she be applying?
how should she go about looking for a job?
she is pretty down about the whole thing (thinks that she can't find anything but secretarial work)....
I am pretty sure she could find something better...

I think she did well in school, or at least she should have (she graduated when she was 20...)
went to University of Maryland

she might just suck at looking for jobs
I am not good myself.. so I couldn't help her, but I figured people here would be better

I have seen her looking for jobs
I honestly think she doesn't know how to look
or the right places to look
or sees jobs and decides that she isn't qualified for them (she complained of this, of not having any experience)

I used to work with loads of ES majors since I'm a geologist. Many of people with natuaral sciences degrees end up working in the enviromental remediation field since it is a growth industry and with government regulations getting stricter all the time this isn't likely to change.
I typed in "Enviromental Science" in Monster.com for the state of Virginia (I'm not sure where you are located) and came up with 1000 hits. Have her start on Monster. |
umm.. when I searched for environmental science I got programming jobs and the like also.. so some of those are going to be false positives...
