	Help Boshko file his tax returns! (HELP!) Suffering from ads?

This is proving to be annoyingly difficult. I don't have any forms or other information from my old boss since he usually paid me in cash and was trying to scam the Korean government out of taxes. Now I shouldn't have to pay any taxes, because since I'm not living in the states my deduction for that is much larger than my total income, but I don't know how the hell to do that. The IRS website, the US Embassy in Seoul and electronic filing services are being no help whatsoever.

Basically all I want to do is say how much money I made and point out that because of the deducation of making all of this abroad and living abroad the whole time I shouldn't pay any taxes. However, due to my old boss being a tax-dodging slimeball who hates my guts I'm completely unable to document this.

I just don't know how to document this especially w/o a W-2 form.

But I'm taking the Foreign Service exam so I want to be completely legit incase they background check me. I just don't know how to do it

Yeah try to see if you can get an extension and then do it the right way.

Good luck on your test, I heard it's difficult but you can do it.

Probably easier than these damn taxes at least.

You should be able to get an extension; all US citizens living abroad get at least a two month extension, as far as I know. That's what I'm doing...

I did this all last year, but I forgot all the form numbers. I have to do it again in the next couple days, though, so I'll let you know what I'm doing.

Thanks man, appreciate it greatly. What complicates it is the sketch people that I've been working for.

I don't think this will be much of a problem, really. I don't have any W2-like paperwork either, but I didn't need it. I knew how much my overall salary was based on my contract information and used that to estimate my income. The estimate was well under the amount exempted once you qualify for the Physical Presence Test, so I owed nothing. Much easier than I thought it would be.

Hmmmm, https://www.taxactonline.com/ has all the stuff necessary for ex-pats to file their taxes electronically, a bit clunky interface but pretty idiot-proof, which is very good for me.

You do get an automatic two-month extension, so you don't have to worry about this right now.
