this is what i have done today:
- 8 until 12 look out the window and counts ships coming by...counted 2
-12 until 13.30 lunch
-13.30 until 14.30 look out the window and count ships coming by....counted 0


i know i should be whining but i am bored

no i am an statistics mananger at the EPO (european patent office)

and because of new programs in use all departments didnt do anything last week so i cant do any statistics...


read the paper on the way to work...scratching your balls isnt passing time it is the same thing as breathing air...cant install stuff on this computer

you would be amazed at how long you can make reading the paper last. i used to work in a garage which seemed to have a customer every other thursday so i used to spend the day reading the paper, including the gardening section and the 4 page advertisment feature with carol smiley!

You should run some statistics on the EPO's past work. How many patents have they granted that should never have seen the light of day, and such like that.

If you only have to do that for a day, count yourself lucky. I had to do that for two months at Citibank. What was worse is that I was supposed to "look busy," because other departments got upset about my surfing 'Poly and getting paid. I knew my contract wasn't getting renewed, after a month of that.

if you're really that bored, you could always write a load of stuff about european patent law and send it to yours truly, as it will free up time for me to read the paper, which would otherwise be spent researching the subject for my exams.

Or he could investigate whether there is a correlation between the frequency of ships passing by and the frequency of him scratching his balls

Well, not you specifically, but perhaps you can help me. Do you ever work with Eurostat?

I've sent a request to them asking for yearly figures for how much each country payed into EU funds and programmes, and how much each country recieved from them. I need yearly data since membership and I can then do the totals myself.

It's been over a week since they replied that they'll "forward my mail". Should I continue spamming or is this normal?

Man, that Eurostat place sucks. I once registered and it took them 3 weeks or so to reply.

no i have nothing to do with eurostat...this is and internal job just making statitics for the managers and stuff...sorry..


but thanks to the advice...i am just started another day and keep looking busy is the hardst part i found out...but just got my first paycheck so i am not complaining
