	NYC Restaurants Increase Your PM Length

I'm going to be in NYC tomorrow night in Chelsea, Manhattan. Can any of you city dwellers recommend a good 3 star restaurant to me? 14 or so diners.

It is not too far from Chelsea to the Meat Packing District. Much better places there. I was partial to Pastis, but they've gone down hill a bit. There is a new hotel there (Gansevoort) with a great Japanese restaurant in it (Ono).

I think he's asking the wrong crowd about medium-to-fine dining in NYC. If Molly Bloom, Boris, or Starchild doesn't bother to chime in, what hope do the rest of us have???

How much are you looking to spend? Cause the variety is huge. Also, how far are you going from Chelsea? Is it ouot of the question to get on a subway?

You flatter me with your confidence but it's been 16 years since I last lived in New York City and I fear I'd never find my way around now.

Thanks for suggestions pchang. I will check out the meat packing district.

I'm bringing my parents and some other older members of the family, so I don't think they will be wanting to take the subway and I need to minimize travel. I want to spend roughly $15 to $25 a plate, but with NY prices, I'm hoping that won't limit me to Denny's.

Whoops - Gotham and Man Ray can be quite a bit more than $25/plate, but if you don't go wild and skip appetizers, you can get in at the $25 level. Ono is in the same league. Pastis can be a bit cheaper and may be your best bet considering your budget. All of those places are quite popular and packed, so you need to call now to get a reservation for 14.

We ended up going to this little chinese place called Grand Sichuan at the corner of 9th ave and 24th st. The food was excellent and very flavorful.
