I admit I used to eat there often when I was in the Navy. As McDonald's had an exclusive contract with Navy bases. And I ate less and less as time went on. I resorted to eating... get this- Navy food!.

But since I got out, I have never eaten there.

your thoughts on Mcdonald's.

I knew what it was about too but there were some stuff I learned.

It's still entertaining to watch


They did this experiment in the DVD extra section, where they tested how long it took food to rot. All the normal food started to decompose within a couple of days.

But,

THE MCDONALDS FRIES STILL LOOKED BRAND NEW AFTER 3 MONTHS.

wow, that is kind of freaky.

I especially don't like french fries. I used to eat them (because they came with the meal- yes I was dumb when I was younger). The 3 times I have eaten fast food, I just get the sandwhich and skip the fries. Fries are just crap. Very little if not any nutritional value in them.

For a year, I worked for a supermarket chain in Hawaii. The same guy who owned the chain also owned all the McDonald's on the island, so there was one next door to each store. I ate there almost everyday for a year. I'd rather go anyplace else but McDonalds.

I can actually see the McD's next to the grocery store. There was one by the hospital my wife worked at.

I'm not a big fan of McDonald's, but I don't like the way they've been demonized in the past few years as one of the main causes of obesity in the Western world. McDonald's isn't another sign of American cultural imperialism; it's a corporation that provides relatively cheap food quickly with consistent service.

You're not forced to eat there. Maybe if parents spent more time encouraging their children to exercise, eat healthily and watch less TV, that might drop the pounds off their little darlings.

I'll eat in McDonald's if I'm looking for a quick bite and can't find an alternative. I'll salute the fact that without McDonald's, the fast food revolution might never have happened - no Burger King, KFC etc. Here's to another 50 years!

Nor was it Ray Kroc's vision. The first franchise chain was, IIRC, White Castle or possibly Brown's Chicken. Both started in the 20s. Carls Jr and KFC both started in the 40s.

Fast Food Nation Excellent book, informative and entertaining.
