All,
I trying to play multiplayer SMAC/SMAX over my home network. The set up is as follows:
2 PCs running Win XP SP2 and directly connected to each other by crossover Cat5 cable.
Both have static IPs.
I am able to ping each PC from the other.
I using the Internet TCP/IP option for the mutliplayer game.
I am facing the following problems:
1. I host the game on one PC but I am unable to join from the other. I keep getting an error message on the other PC saying "failed to find game...". I've tried specifying the IP, hostname and leaving the box blank. Nothing has worked so far. I found a similar discussion on this thread http://apolyton.net/forums/showthre...threadid=129573 but there was no solution.
2. How do I set up a MP game for 2 human players and rest AI players? Do the factions get selected as and when human players join? Do the other factions get selected by the AI automatically?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
Sanjib.

1) My suspicion is firewall settings. To test that it is actually the firewall that is the problem, disable it on both macines, then try to connect to a game, if you connect, then your firewall needs configuring.
