Captain's Log:
The troubles on the station have continued, which I hope I can elaborate upon in a sufficient manner, in this brief log.
Odo has submitted his preliminary report, suggesting one of several things. First of all, Garak's killer could not have been any of the civilians given the security bolt on Garak's shop. The killer had to have been able to gain access through abuse of one of the codes from ops.
This has narrowed the number of suspects considerably, as there have been no recorded intrusions among the civilians. However, this also puts the crew of DS9 front and centre. There also have been a few other notables, who may have had access to these codes, or who have shielded their access to the computers of DS9, as befitting their dignitary status. As such, our suspect list is confined to the list below.
Odo, naturally, has begun his investigation with Quark. After a rather gruelling interrogation, he came to the conclusion that the evidence overwhelmingly fingers Quark as the one responsible.
Given his status as a Ferengi national, and the rather fortuitous presence of the Nagus, he has been released to the custody of the Nagus, and stripped of his lease on the bar.
Most disturbingly, in the process of formally transferring Quark, and stripping his lease from the bar a mob formed among the civilians, one of whom managed to shoot Quark with a blaster. Constable Odo is greatly grieved by his failure to properly ensure the safety of Quark. He has requested that the Federation conduct a formal inquiry of his own actions, a process that must greatly humble our dour Constable.

Captain's Log.
As the formal inquiry into the failure of Odo to properly secure Quark for his release to the Nagus begins, we find another death on the station. Kai Winn Adami was found dead by Major Kira with a stone cold, half full cup of raktajino coffee sitting on her desk, and her staff by her bed. Lt. Dax analysed the coffee and found traces of poison, of untraceable origin. Chief O'Brien analysed the security alarm recently installed in her quarters, and had found that the circuit had been interrupted at some point on the night watch.
As unprofessional as it sounds, part of me is glad to see her no longer on the station, and I must, to be truthful, confess this desire. However, as a professional, I am required to hunt down her killer, with every fibre of my being. The last thing I wish to have, is an accusation that I have sacrificed my own principles for one such as Kai Winn.
With Constable Odo under scrutiny, and a desire to have a fair hearing, I have asked Dr. Bashir to conduct the investigation and report to me what he finds.
Concerning the other events, in my log, the death of Kai Winn has indefinitely postponed the admittance of Bajor into the Federation. The negotiators, including Shakaar, remain on the station, though I cannot say for how long they will remain. Shakaar has begun the preparations for the funeral of the Kai on Bajor, upon which he promises to return to conclude the negotations, but such promises seem hollow, in light of the recent tragedies.
Even in death she obstructs!
Lt. Dax has had ill news for me of Kurn, the brother of Worf. Apparently, she has intervened to prevent Worf from fulfilling Kurn's request for suicide, given his dishonor. As the remainder of the High Council has stripped him from his former position due to the disruption in the Klingon-Federation Alliance, he feels there is nothing left in life to live.
Quark's bar has been seized by Brunt and the Ferengi Commerce Association in a bid to deny Rom and the unionised workers. Naturally, Quark's will did not specify any inheritance to his disfavored brother, and it is likely Rom will not stand up to the wrath of Brunt and the FCA. I am surprised, not only by the dedication of Brunt, but also by his efficiency. No sooner were charges pressed, did I find him requesting details, on the nature of Quark's lease with the station.
