Captain's Log:
Today I am greatly saddened to report a loss of one particularly close to me. My own darling, Kasidy Yates was shot on the promenade, by a mob similar to that of Quark's.
We had assembled together to discuss the death of Kai Winn, and also to calm the people on the station that we would find the person responsible for the murders, and that there was no need to start lynching people. I have since confined everyone to quarters, and there is to be no one outside, without prior permission from my staff, until the investigation is complete. There is to be no one allowed on, or off the station, including the negotiators for Bajor's entry into the federation.
I reluctantly denied Shakaar's request to leave and bury the Kai, but the fact that there seem to be not only one, but two murderers on the station chilled my previously lenient mood. While I assured Shakaar that he was not under suspicion, I had no choice but to confine him to his quarters along with the others until the investigation can be concluded.
Fortunately, the majority of the station still has confidence in us, and has so far complied with my orders without complaint. The usual grousers are present, although I must say without Quark, it is almost a relief!
The investigation of Odo will have to wait until the killer has been caught, since there is to be no one allowed on board the station. As such, I have reinstated his position, and asked him to continue the investigation as best as he can. Let us hope that he will be successful, not only for the sake of the station, but for us all.
On a final note, my bitterness cannot be measured. To lose one is a tragedy, but two is beyond words. For the first time I had felt happy again, as I had not been since Jennifer's death. And now, she has died, partially due to my lenience.

Captain's Log:
I fear I shall have to start listing the deaths last. As the list grows longer, I wonder if we ever shall get to the bottom of this, while I am in command of the station.
Today, Lt. Commander Worf, on his daily inspection of quarters, found our recent refugee, Tora Ziyal dead, sprawled on her standard size cot in her sparse quarters.
While under suspicion for the death of Elim Garak, Odo cleared her as he arrested Quark after his rounds of interrogation. However, since we have lost both our Cardassians, I wonder if there is a pattern between the deaths of Ziyal, and Garak.
Worf reported that Tora had nothing on her, other than what her sponsor, Major Kira, had given her just a few days previous. Computer logs showed that she had been investigating the specifications of federation holographic technology, an innovation not available to Cardassians.
After a thorough investigation by Dr. Bashir, he concluded that her cause of death had to be poison but the mode of ingestion uncertain since there was no cup present in her quarters. Thus, it is possible that the poison could have been administered without intrusion into her quarters.
I find both the similarities with the previous two murders puzzling. On one hand, we have the same method as the second killer, but the same motivation of the first. Constable Odo believes that this must be because Quark was the first killer, and he is now dead. It would be a obvious tactic for the second killer, after the death of the first, to mimick the other assassin.
Walking around the deserted Promenade seems more comforting than quarters with Jake. I know he sees through my brave face and bluster, but I do not want to burden him. He deserves to be a child!
