Here's a tough question, has anyone ever attempted the massive flagship of Chinese Emperor Zheng He's treasure fleet? Its obvious just how large this monster of the seas was when compared with Columbus's Santa Maria (400 ft long compared to 85 ft long).
This tremendous beast aparently made routine visits to the Indian Ocean as well as the East Coast of Africa from 1405 -33.

I don't think the Santa Maria was very big by European standards of the time, either. Though I could be wrong.
I'll stick with an Iowa class for touring the Indian Ocean and the east coast of Africa- especially for when we make a pit-stop in Mogadishu.

Well I'd try stay away from the East Coast of Africa in any ship. A friend of mine who's an officer in the navy told me that its close to becoming the worlds second deadliest pirate zones for shipping.
In any case I'm no ship artist otherwise I would have attempted this myself a long time ago. However I think a unit like this could easily find a home in any number of historical period scenario's, or possibly a scenario where China didn't scrap her 4500 ship fleet in 1433 and instead compted with Europe for colonization of India, the Middle East and Africa.
