Who needs TV? Our societies would get by fine without it. I watch incredibly little of it.

On the other hand, whether the marginal improvement in entertainment by going from standard TV to HDTV is worth the switch can only be judged on a personal level after having seen the difference on various programming. For big screens, the difference is rather immense, but again, people have different cost/reward profiles on this.

Got spare money?

Remember that analog TV is a frequency hog. Since the airwaves are owned by the people, if you can fit the existing stations into a smaller amount of frequency, the frequency that is freed up can be auctioned to the private sector or used otherwise.

Got Digital TV service here. Its mostly on the Science/Sci Fi/ History/Home & Garden/Food Network and kids channels.

Well, thatīs true I suppose. But still, what irks me is that weīre forced to pay a license fee for owning a TV set and pay good money for a digital decoder at the same time.
