the reign of Maximus Meadae II 65 AD- Suffering from ads?

Senators of Rome,

Having heard the voices that spoke, we have decided the following on the issues that have been discussed the last few days.

1. On the matter of build orders it is felt that there's no strong signal from the senate to pursue building galleys to rule the seas. Therefore, it has been decided to maintain a fleet of galleys that supports fast travel of units and focus on growth.

2. It has been noted that the production of units to support the war should not be neglected.

3. New Hippo, Leptis Minor, Hippo & New Sabratha will be abandoned as they are improductive now and without any usefell perspectives. Siwa, El-Amarna and Giza will be defended. It has rightfully been addressed by some senators that walls and temples have allready been erected in these cities.

4. The majority of the senate feels that the Goths will be our next target. For that matter, troops will be located on the border with the Goths.

These will be th initial guidelines for the rule of Maximus Meadae II.

I wouldn't have made that 20 turn trade with Egypt, it's just going to screw our rep when Egypt gets disconnected from our trade network due to Carthigan and/or Persian action.

Unless your thinking that we are likely to wipe out Macedonia before all our current MAs against them expire anyway?

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Basically, the penalty for a trade route being broken by any means is that the AI will no lower pay up front items in exchange for a 20 turn item + the AI will no longer accept GPT payments for an up front item for the remainder of that game.

By making that deal with Egypt, we may have acted in a matter that will preclude any more selling of wine and getting up front payment an in addition precluded things like buying more workers for GPT.

That is the more minor of the two.

On breaking a MA (including by winning the war ) the penalty is no more MAs.

This could result in fairly quickly being at war with all remaining civs at the same time for pretty much the rest of the game.

I strongly object to any idea of abandoning the former Carthaginian cities.

Any act by the Emperor to do so should be considered treason by the Senate. Remember - the vote was clearly in favour of keeping them!

It was not an obvious vote. It was a 3 to 4 vote when I started the reign. Furthermore, senator Roadcage offered a compromise which was to the liking of the emperor.

I see you've destroyed 4 Macedonian Galleys thus far. It seems Rome is benefiting from the extra resources granted to the navy in recent years. Perhaps you may consider building more of these fighting machines?

Only an army was defending Artesium. Maybe I have moved forces.

Most galleys destroyed, were done so in defense. A ferry of 4 galleys has been established between Italy and Macedonia.

Building fortresses in Africa just as well seems to be useless.

Vote today stood 3 to 5, so never has been 4 to 7.

Artesium was an extremely important conquest, as it opens the gateway to the Aegean. I am extremely saddened that you didn't see the need to defend it adequately.

It gives the troops something to do rather than remain idle, and fortifies the defences surrounding the city. Why would it be useless?

Polls are advice from the senate to the emperor. A 57% majority is not overwhelming. It was read as there not being strong objections and as mentioned above, senator Roadcage even came up with a great compromise, which was embraced by the emperor. Good advice to the emperor is appriciated and recognised.

Finding the empire building many galleys without consulting the senate in this matter was far more troublesome. It was you, Aquavian Lungarius who circumvented the senate and acted like a despote. I've let the issue bypass and consulted the senate for continuation of this useless prestige project. The senate was divided on the matter and for being the emperor it was decided to install a ferry service from Italy to Macedonia. With 4 galleys it is now in full service.

It has been discussed many times before, Africa is not the place where Rome wishes to fight battles. The legionaires left standing around there are wastefull appointed resources.

Capturing an island in the Aegan sea is not a priority. No automatic temple to prevent culture flipping and a waste full storage of units. The army is being build to capture, not for camping on islands.
For that matter efforst have been made to swap the Leg and HC forces on Corse and Sardine for garrison units (preventing landings).

Argos was retaken the next turn. 4 Macedonian HC and a hoplite (indeed it attacked) died trying to take Argos. Having an army die on our side equals 3 units + the leader.

Artesium is of minor importance and is now defended by about 4 Macedonian HC. Once Macedonia is removed from the mainland it will not be aproblem to conquer the islands.

Casualties go along with going to war. Efforts have been taken to keep the casualties on Roman side to a minimum. While numerous Macedonian troops have been slaughtered, our losses have indeed been kept to a minimum. No cities have been lost that have been Roman for a long time. The next emperor will find a reasonable army force along the Gothic border. If all troops in England, Africa and the islands have been relocated to the mainland, where territory and population is to be gained, losses will be even more less. To be able to relocate, several garrisons have been trained or need to be trained. Ferry services have been established for transportation.
