List all the horrible games you recieved as birthday/christmas presents Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

You know, the games your mother buys you because she knows you like computer games, but has no idea what constitutes a good computer game. I have trained my mother to never buy me computer games anymore. I have my brother do that.

In fact, she has never bought me PC games that I can think of. But she bought me this horrible game I think it was called Master Blaster for the Commodore 64. I don't think I played that game more than a few minutes.

actually, that's the only game I can think of. . She bought me GATO for the C64, but that game wasn't bad. I played that game a decent amount (as much as I normally play submarine games anyways- before I get bored).

My other brother (who doesn't play games) bought me Dungeon Seige, but I had specifically requested that game. But the beginning seemed too simplistic and newbie-ish for a RPG, so I traded it in. I had to do some convincing of the female walmart clerk that the game would not run on my computer and I traded it for KOTOR.

I don't have very many good examples, but I'm sure you guys do, so that's why I made this thread.

I have had only one game given to me by someone, and it was pretty much a disaster. "The Last Dynasty", a space flight shooter from ~1994. I received it in 2000. The game's going feature back in the early 90's was it graphics, so it was nothing to write home about... the FMV sequences, made of actual video, were hilariously jarring and out of place.

Edit: Okay, 1995. More info:

http://www.csoon.com/issue6/lastd.html

Anyway, that was the last time my parents bought me a game by themselves I have to admit though, had the game been a bit newer, it might have been my cup of tea, so it wasn't all bad, and a pretty good hunch from the folks... damn, this doesn't really belong to this thread any longer does it?

My dad once bought me the same game three times, not realising. That was back in the days of cassette loaded games, and the games cost about $2-3.

Riddle of the Sphinx is about the worst one I ever got (I have strong dislike of puzzle games in general, and that style in particular). The funny part is, the same person who gave it to me forgot they had, and got me the same game next year.

I've never received a game I didn't want as a present, but I did get HBO Boxing free when I bought my PS. It lasted about 5 minutes - if that - and has never been seen since. Maybe I ought to trade it...
Fortunately I bought Civ 2 on the PS the same day, so I wasn't too disappointed.
I did have an argument with the guy who served me, because I really didn't want the boxing rubbish, and really did want Civ 2, but he wouldn't let me have Civ 2 instead, or buy the console first, and then trade in the bad game within seconds of buying it.

I had to at least force myself to play the game I was bought, because I felt bad for not liking it. But I could only bring myself to do that one day. It just wasn't very fun.

I have never received a computer game, video game, or even a DVD as a present, as my family are not tech savy.

I get underpants and socks for presents, so I marvel at the money other people seem to be willing to spend on birthday presents and such.

Then behold, for Skanky has a present he can send you on your next birthday.

And there was much rejoicing.
