Ah yes, the dreaded "Emergency Caesarian". To make a long story short my wife an I ended up in a situation with our first whereby my wife was in induced labor for over 20 hours, was exhausted from this, had developed a fever (i.e. "infection", which raises all sorts of red flags in the medical field), and the baby's heartbeat was becoming erratic. The situation was deteriorating rapidly before the doctors proposed an emergency caeserian, and my wife replied very emotionally, "just get our baby out" in a way that made it clear that the baby came first. Caesarian went very smoothly, and after cleanup I ended up holding our firstborn for the next three hours - just couldn't let her go..... After those 3 hours a nurse finally came up to me and asked, "Its been 3 hours - shouldn't you go check up on Mrs. D. and see if she's OK?".
My wife and I have had 2 more Caesarians since, the last being performed in 18 minutes (I think it was because the doctor by then knew my wife's inner anatomy so well....). Hopefully any future deliveries will be "smoother" for you, Ogie.....
Regardless, congrats on the new addition!
D
