Turn thread - 490 AD Support Apolyton

CoD sent us the map.

Northern part

We have a new palace extension.

Things built:

  • Camelot finishes a Library.
  • Castle Anthrax finishes a Settler.

Citizen allocation and new builds (proposal):
  • Camelot starts something. It can either be left at high growth, or MMed to produce 30 (!) spt while in GA. That is a Musket every 2 turns, or a Great Wonder in 20 turns from scratch... The additional benefit would be that Castle Anthrax or Castle Aaaagh could grow extremely fast using the Irrigated Wheat tile. This needs a serious discussion, so please, speak now! I made the changes for the screenie, so you can see the immediate effect...
  • Castle Anthrax starts a Settler.
  • Swamp Castle moves one citizen to the water, to free the tile for Camelot (still getting the Harbor next turn, so no problem).
  • Cave of Caerbannog can use its surpulus food to build faster, while running a small -1 Food deficit. It can have the Great Library in 10 turns...
  • Joyous Garde and Tintagel can shift citizens to speed up Tintagel's Aqueduct by a turn (different use of Bonus / non-Bonus Grassland).

Worker moves. Well, everybody goes south, I guess. The late-comers currently at Joyous Garde can help improving the land south of Witch Village once they arrive there (no need to rush).

The Settler goes to Witch Village 332.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Southern part

We will be able to rush the Courthouse in City of the Silly Peasants next turn.

We will have a Colony on the Ivory next turn. The Ruins provide a Road connection.

I suggest we switch Siege Perilous to a Courthouse, so that it can at least try to produce things...

Monkey have dropped off a pack of Catapults and two Numidian Mercenaries west of non-existent Whale Song. W should move the Longbowmen and Horsemen there, in case they want to try something uncool.

The Offensive stack is blocked by a CoD Horseman, so it will have to go straight north. We are, of course, moving it to defend the southern cities. A part should probably keep going, until they reach Camelot. We should start considering how many units that will be. It is mostly defensive units (Spears and Musketeers), many Catapults, and a few offensive units that survived the onslaught.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

No answers... well...

What happened:

  • Did all the MM to bring Camelot to 30spt. Put a Cathedral in the build list for now. We can safely switch next turn and get a Musketeer, or keep making it for a final decision in 6 turns. I say we aim high and try to get Sun Tzu's or perhaps Bach's.
  • Workers moved south.
  • Settler moved to the next planned city site.
  • War stack moved north. I did not leave them to heal. Better get them out to the new cities quickly. No point risking things.
  • Moved units to help against the Monkeys, in case they want to try something. 2 Horsemen and a Longbowman ready to strike next turn...
  • Moved a Worker to form a Colony on the Ivory next turn.
  • Moved another one to keep building a Road farther south-east (where our stack is).

Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

to a wonder with 30spt Camelot. Sun Tzu sounds pretty good - it secures it for us (and denies it to everyone else), and we can sell off the old barracks. We could aim for putting Bach's in Caerbannog.

What's our FP plan? Should we go for Silly Peasents, since it'll have a Courthouse soon?

That would require very fast research of Education and Music Theory (doable while in GA). And why not the Great Library, if I may ask?

You should visit us more often. Yes, City of Silly Peasants is planned to build the FP (positioned in the middle of the most fertile southern lands). A Granary has been rushed already, and now it is time for a Courthouse.

Suffering from ads?

For one, the GL will be obsolete very soon.

Second, I'd think it could possibly be a bad move diplomatically. Rather than talking with other teams (which is always good), we'd be isolated because wouldn't have a need to talk with them about tech trades. Of course, I could be wrong.

And, I guess I'll ask this question here: do you think it would be acceptable to post the minimap of the game in a public news piece? I need to compile one here soon, and it would be a good way to illustrate the Monkey's demise.

But could still provide us with a nice tech-for-shields advantage.

Makes sense. So, do I hear you volunteering to start some talks?

They already have a map of our continent, right? In that case, the minimap will not tell them more. Should be no problem.
