The Paradox 6 in 1 strategy pack. I already had EU2 and HOI1 but I wanted Vicky and the Asian version of EU2. The other games look kind of lame. Still, well worth $18.95.

I haven't played that version yet. I can't seem to get the beta patches to work since I don't have excel. It loads until it gets to a point where it says "can't find excel file" then it crashes. The game won't work after that and it must be reinstalled.

My computer only came with word and they wanted $100 extra dollars for the rest of Office. I( guess I just won't get to use the betas.

I've alway been able to play the game just fine, however, I save the beta patch to my desktop then click on it and it goes through the loading prodcess. Half way along it says "Cannot find excel file specified" then it crashes.

What do you do in detail? Save the beta to desktop, unpack the beta, run the new exe - when does the problems occur?

Yes, that is exactly what occured. I downloaded the new beta to the desktops. I unpacked it, then I hit the "EU2.exe" file and the patch statrts to unpack. Next thing you know I get the error message and it crashes.

Oh, and just checking: You have patched to 1.08 before applying the beta, right?

Yeah, I install 1.08 just fine without any problems. The problem happens with the beta.

It appears I was not the only one to have this problem. The problem was fixed using the method recommended by tech support. Paradox does a great job with tech support even with "unofficial patches" like the betas.

As a matter of interest (Havard or anyone else?) what version numbers come in the 6-pack? Are they all 1.00 or are some partially/fully patched already?

I ask as I've had problems before trying to apply later patches over earlier patches ...

[I have the 6-pack 'enroute' and there's a small possiblitity that it might actually get to me one day ... ]

Otherwise many of the patches mightn't work too well.
I'd hate to get EU2 1.07 and not be able to patch it up to 1.08 ... again.

When EU2 was released in Norway, we got patch 1.02 out of the box IIRC, and there was no problems with that.

Just use the latest full patch and the latest beta. You don't need to install every patch.

Well, the good news is I got the beta patch working. There is one error that occurs when you first launch the senerio but if you type ignore then the game loads as normal. I'm not really sure what is causing the error code since it doesn't give any details. This error code does seem to stop me from loading the latest AGCEEP game though. I start AGCEEP and things look great, I select my country, change the settings to the way I like them, then hit start. The game starts to load and then I get the same error message I get with the beta patched game only this time it causes AGCEEP to crash.

Successive reinstalls have not solved the problem.

There's a bug with 1.37 and you will need to either get the province.csv file which you can find in the AGCEEP forums or download 1.37.1, which should be up shortly.

EU2 in the 6pack is version 1.08. I think Oerdin was referring to the version number for the Asia Chapters disk (which I have not yet installed)

Mmm. That was what I meant, in a roundabout sort of way. Trying to install 1.08 on top of 1.07 stuffed me up royally when 1.08 came out.

If EU2 itself comes with either 1.00 or 1.08 then I'm happy.

I retrospect I'd avoid buying the 6 in 1 pack since you can't play MP with it due to the batch sum errors.

There's several files that are different from the 1.08 that comes in the 6 in 1 package and 1.08 the patch. If you install the 1.08 patch over the 1.08 that comes in the 6 in 1, there is still one file that's different. Just get that file from a friend, and you should be fine.

When PIF comes back up, I'll post a link.

I'm thinking of getting the 6 in 1 pack because I want HoI and Victoria in addition to EU2, but the checksum thing error sounds pretty bad. So, is it confirmed that replacing the one file after applying 1.08 will correct the error? And if so, can someone upload it here?
