Just becasue they didn't swear on a Bible doesn't mean they're atheists. Quakers and some other protestant sects don't believe in swearing oaths.
I know for a fact that Jefferson was a deist. Teddy Roosevelt was an Episcopalian. I don't know about Pierce, Hayes and Arthur.

Surely it was more than that, Az? After all, there've been many Labour (Mapai wasn't it called back then?) PM's, and as socialists, one would think they'd be atheists too? Same with many Likudnikim/Herut/etc, no? Or is it a "I believe in God but I'm secular/traditionalist" thing?
