	5 Years into it . . . Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

i can finally say that im becoming an advaced guitar player (blues guitar) i didnt think it would be this difficult. i can jam along, i can figure out songs and write solos for them and play along, i can even improv in A without the scale in front of me, and improv with the other scales with the scales in front. pretty exciting.

I wanted to learn to play guitar, but I don't think I have the dexterity in my hands (or the sense of timing ). But I don't have the patience to learn anyways.

i estimate on average i play about an hour a day, but i go through cycles. sometimes i cant pick it up, other times i cant put it down

for those of you who want to learn to play guitar, heres what i suggest (and how i did it)

(1) get a crappy guitar and amp if you wana do electric
(2) start by teaching yourself. if you know any friends who play, get them to teach you chords. practice until you can get them good. get them to teach you tab also.
(3) go onlline, www.olga.net, www.ultimate-guitar.org, and start playing you favorite songs
(4) once you know for sure that you like guitar and you know a few songs, get a guitar teacher, for whatever styles you like (i wanted to play rock and roll, the real stuff, ya know jimi hendrix, stones, led zep, etc) so I got a teacher who does specializes in that. Since rock and roll is just a corrupted blues scale (and corrupted blues rythm) he taught me the scales, and proper technique, etc.
(4a) get a new, better guitar.
(5) then its up to you to improvise etc. www.12bar.de is a great site once you have the basics for blues, especially his easy to read scales for every major blues key. (and you can do flats and sharps too if you are clever)
(6) by now you should be able to listen to most songs and figure out what key its in. then you just overlay your own solos and riffs by playing them in the same key
(7) and then you can writing your own stuff, getting your own style (slowhand, fingerpicking, classical, mexican, jazz, etc.) into it.

sorry no more guitar players for me ex husband is on and ex bf both turned out to be weenies. Only thing i needed from tubes was that he didnt play the guitar. Tom petty is good i like him. I like Gary Moore as a blues guy tho.

only pop guitar players are weenies. blues and real rock and roll guitarists are manly men. pop sounds pretty, blues sounds sexy, you cant resist when we ping out those funny sounds.
